Did U.S. Regulations help to cause this tragedy?

I received the following in an e-mail. Can someone verify?

"Why do MTs (Moslem Terrorists) never hijack the planes of El Al (the Israeli airline)? It is because the flight crews (pilots and attendants) are armed and trained. Flight crews of US airlines are not allowed to be armed. This is a result of the "Victim Disarmament" policy of the gun-control lobby. US flight crews aren't even permitted to carry pepper spray or tasers - either one of which could have immobilized the September 11 hijackers."

It is absolutely incredible to me how there could be regulations like this against protection of passengers. Please tell me the e-mail is a hoax.

If it's real, then if it weren't for the regulations, there'd likely have been NO TRAGEDY!

For those who would counter that the terrorists would have tried something else, my sentence should have continued something like, "...no tragedy like the one that occurred."

THE BOTTOM LINE IS[EVE] THE TERR. CAN PICK THERE TIME & PLACE, maybe the politicians finally=get IT.

I see where Brazil just passed a law making it legal for any passenger to carry a light handgun (.32 calibre and under) on all their flights, to dissuade terrorists from implementing their evil schemes.

Makes perfect sense to me. It would make sense here in the U.S., too, but it would make the soccer moms "feel less safe" (all those guns!), so of course it won't happen. Armed passengers could've stopped ALL the terrorist incidents last Tuesday... but, hey, people deserve to feel safe, even if they aren't, right? Ask Rosie O'dDonnell if you don't believe me. After all, what's a couple of buildings and thousands of lives when there's a risk that the women of the nation might feel uncomfortable?

America the p-whipped.

A larger caliber weapon than .32, equipped with Glaser bullets would be a lot more effective and cause less damage to the aircraft. They were developed for the Sky Marshalls back in the Good Ole Days.
