Dow and NASDAQ off over 100 pts in first few minutes

My prediction is that by waiting until today, the country is far more upbeat that it would have been if all the NY markets had resumed last week. (The Chicago commodities market and some others kept going.)

Something I'm wondering... There is likely to be a readjustment in where the investments are made. So, that could result in a wash. Sales of airline stocks and then purchases of something else. As opposed to sitting on the sidelines with cash. If so, there could be a very favorable correction later in the day.

Warren Buffet has said that he will not be selling today, but might be buying. To me that is what some of these very large fund managers should be doing. Looking for bargains and buying. Sell later.

10:05 am, the Dow is off 540, but NasDaq continues to hold at about minus 100.

Fox Wall St reporter is saying they didn't expect it to be nearly this bad and it sounds as if panic is setting in. Warren, where are you???

NasDaq and S&P500 really haven't been so bad. Dow is more or less stabilized at 500 or so. I've been replaying the bank scene from It's a Wonderful Life all morning, I think they should have shown it on tv last night.

They really were hauling out the big guns last night..Buffett, and Jack Welch(i think) on 60 minutes..Buffett said he wouldn't be selling, and may buy.. Also said he would be going through with an offer that he had on the table..But i think this is being dis-ingenuous..Buffett may not be selling right now, but thats because he has ALREADY positioned himself for a market downturn.. But IMO.. it's not necessarily good advice for the average sheeple..who wasn't similar positioned

Whatever curbs were applied (like companies buying back their own stock) don't appear to be working. I think we're past the point in the afternoon (now 2:50 EDT) for PPT to kick in. Dow off 711 and below 8,900.

Insurance companies will be divesting in order to raise the cash needed to pay claims.

just a little tidbit to consider.

On tv they just called it an orderly sell off there, everyone is calm. Who she was talking about I don't know. a little blurb from CNN.
