TOTT spillover

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Slightly ominous, this:

There's a fella on the TOTT forum inquiring after the details of this BB (which he refers to worringly as "Vicars Greenspun").

If you're familiar with that forum you'll know it's brimming with off-topic cr@p and Mackem wind-up merchants.

Should the floodgates be opened?

Only if we can choose who to drown

Give them the wrong address/fake password!

-- Anonymous, September 17, 2001

I've started popping in there at weekends when this place is usually moribund. It's not very good, frequently awful, but at least it's active.

The Mag who posted the thread (kerouac) would be a worthwile member for you IMHO. He comes onto RTG not just to wind up, and posts valid points and replies.

Can't think where he got the name Vicar's from ;o)

GAV! Outed as a Washington makem at last! :-D Oi, stop hitting me...oi, that hurts...

-- Anonymous, September 17, 2001

Welcome GavMackem - you aren't a regular mackem contributor on here under a different name are you by any chance?

I've read some of your posts on TOTT, and actually felt that you could be a welcome contributor on here.

Quit brown-nosing clarky ;-)

-- Anonymous, September 17, 2001

Clarky, he's been on here before a few times.....I remember the first time I saw something posted by him I was scared shitless in case Grant found out and started giving me a hard time....

Oh and thanks bobby.....w*nker ;)

Any maKem who dosen't end his postings with FTM ....... 2 - 1, is welcome on here as far as I'm concerned.

-- Anonymous, September 17, 2001

Sorry Bobby! It's just that I feel we really need some additional members on here. Most evenings and weekends, outside of match days, it's bloody dead on here. Macbeth's trawl for e-mail addresses barely turned up 100 active members, which seems very low to me.

As I said earlier I've even started scanning other boards. TOTT isn't very good, and often decends to the utter banal, but there are some good contributors on there - GavMackem seems to be one who enjoys genuine banter. We could do with some more rival fans of that persuasion on here.

-- Anonymous, September 17, 2001

Clarky, is that tongue in cheek, or have you made a U-turn on makems?

As for more contributors, why don't we seek out a few prollific posters from other clubs web boards such as Leeds, Chelsea and Arsenal and invite them here ?

-- Anonymous, September 17, 2001

No u-turn from me Rik, mate. You may have missed it, but I've tried very hard to encourage banter with the mackems on here, but banter that is free of hatred and mindless abuse.

I utterly detest the hatred that exists in football, including that between Mags and Mackems - hatred that provides the underlying cause of the problems LR suffered in the Toon on Saturday. This is supposed to be sport, entertainment - but above all enjoyable, fun.

Clarky - you're right, it does get a bit insular and cliquey in here (no, surely not another clique!). Need fresh blood to spill on the altar of the Unnofficial NUFC BBS...where's me Mason's kit?

"This is supposed to be sport, entertainment - but above all enjoyable, fun."

Following NUFC must also prove a great disappointment 9/10ths of the time ;-)

In answers to your questions Clarky, I've never posted here under another name, but lurked curiously many times.

I only frequent TOTT of a night, where you can put nearly all the banter abuse aside and just post spiced banter, which is more fun IMHO, with characters such as broonee and toongaz on your side. Consuming amounts of drink before posting helps too. As I have a Mag god child, so although I hate your club as much as any Mackem can, I can't plagiarise myself by hating the fans, cos we can't help following 'our lads' can we?

Many thanks for the offer clarky, but my primary home is and will always be on RTG, with interchanged with drunken evening exploits on TOTT. Perhaps some of you in the evening's should go where the fun is!

Understood GavMackem - but pop in now and then, and help us not to take ourselves too seriously.

I tried posting on RTG only once - as part of my mission to try to help diffusing round the edges the sheer bile and hatred that exists between the two sets of fans. I got massacred by Krist and a couple of others, and gave up for ever - perhaps prematurely, but life's too short... if you know what I mean.

Is this the 1st mackem based posting that has not mentioned my previous bad behaviour. alright Gav?

-- Anonymous, September 17, 2001

clarky

when it comes to posting on RTG it all depends on when you come on, and also how many mischief makers on here decide you make the most of the board ;o)

Others seem to do Ok on there, you should give it a try.

sk

I come here without a cloak, are you a familiar face in your RTG guise?

Or a meringue?
