Lost in the Shuffle

My heart goes out to the 8 aid workers that have been held by the Taliban for allegedly teaching Christianity. Their situation was not all that great before but now they must be living in abject horror at what is in store for them. We are hopeful that some form of diplomatic reasoning will descend upon the Taliban but all indications point to the opposite. 4 Germans, 2 Australians, and 2 Americans, who will most likely not survive all of this. Should we be forced into sending ground troops into this desolate ruin of a country, I suspect that the Taliban will be fighting highly motivated forces from many different countries.

Then there is the continuing, almost Romans vs. New Testament Christian-style persecution going on in the Sudan.

Fortunately, they're on our short list of "places to fix," too.
