Does anyone know how to remove water spots from a mirror? We have very hard water and my bathroom mirror has spots all over it. I have tried the usual - Windex, vineger ect.... Spots are still there. Any ideas? Thanks!!! Lisa B.

There's a product called "CLR" (Calcium, Lime, Rust) that works well. Lime away might also work. Both are fairly fumy and toxic though.

Thanks Susan, but I've tried CLR too. I don't understand why I am having sooooo much trouble getting rid of these. I have rubbed and rubbed with no results!! Thanks again! Lisa B.

Are you sure that they're water spots? If none of these products is working then they may be "injuries" to the mirror itelf, either to the silvering on the back or to the glass itself. You could take it to a glass shop and have it re-silvered, and they could probably tell you what the problem is if that ain't it.

I have very hard water also. CLR didn't work at all when I tried it. Lime Away worked better. However, the best thing I have used is lemons. I cut it in half and wipe it over the hard water stains and they come right off.

You may be able to scrape them off with a single-sided razor blade (the brand here is "Gem") - the ones that have a thick solid backing on the other edge from the blade. Wet thoroughly with vinegar, then scrape by sliding the edge held at an angle along the glass AWAY FROM YOU to (hopefully) slip it under the spots. If it half-works, then use the vinegar again.

Incidentally, have you tried a plastic scouring-pad with vinegar?

Hello Lisa,

CLR, vinegar and LimeAway didn't work too well for our bathroom fixtures, but I found another product called "The Works" that did a better job. Fumes weren't as bad as the others either. It was in our local grocery store. The also had a version for toilet cleaning.
