This one is just plain weird.

{Hokay, so I couldn't find the other flag thread}

Here's a bit of flag etiquette that even I didn't know:

"*Flags that cannot be flown at half-staff should have a black streamer attached to the top of the poll."

{guess 'poll' made it through the spell checker}

The same article states that flags are to be flown at half-staff until tomorrow at sunset.

This one was a VERY inspiring one for me. In this photo of the painting, I believe the statue turned out darker then it really is on the actual painiting, but I couldn't readily locate a better shot.

Thanks for sharing that, eve. Strangley enough, the clouds behind her reminded me of those ominous billowing nightmares that chased stunned vicitms down the streets. Gad - that's what you get with an over-active imagination, eh?

I'd heard that the rescue workers have been sleeping in a small sanctuary, which was left untouched by the surrounding devastation. Supposedly, George Washington spoke in this church after his inauguration. Does anyone have any references for this story? The symbolism in this tale is quite something, if it proves true.
