Taggart gracious as ever.

Didn't see it, but:

"I spoke to Roy and Gary Neville, who were nearest it, and they said Shearer stopped them taking a throw-in.

"But that's to be expected. Players are always going to waste time when you're up with a minute to go. He left the referee with no option, I felt.

"He gets three games for that red card, and you see some things that go on in the game of football. It makes it all so stupid.

"You get players elbowing opponents who get one match. It's quite amazing. He was sent off for throwing the ball.

"I don't think it's a serious offence, but in the last minute of the game the crowd are going to force the referee into a situation like that. A home player would probably not have been sent off."

As I've just commented on the RK thread - presumably it was the home crowd who incited RK into throwing the ball at AS's head, and then swinging a punch at him? Jerks - both of 'em.

-- Anonymous, September 15, 2001

Especially as Shearer had just turned to walk away at the time. Hardly preventing the throw.

It works though.

RK's suspension will no doubt get reduced to a single match.

I hope it won't be. Also, I really doubt that Taggart can swing that because Keanne was very close to the ref when he went fisticuffs with the air.

Keanne really is a nasty piece of work. His tackle on Lee was calculated to take the man out. I suspect that's why Shearer goaded him - and wor Al seems to know how to do that.

Our manager said that Keane deserved it and left the ref with no option. What's ungracious about that ya feckin idiot?

WGB's a twat who's still pissed he went to the wrong club.

The
"...in the last minute of the game the crowd are going to force the referee into a situation like that. A home player would probably not have been sent off."
part.

That's what

"WGB's a twat who's still pissed he went to the wrong club".

Try an apple, LR - the grapes don't appear to be very sweet.

Actually, hats off to Taggart for admitting that our wide men and Bellamy gave them trouble.

Clarky...not sour grapes at all...I just hate losing and with that comes the crap from the "opposition"....some idiot talking about PLASTIC FANS...another idiot talking about Roy Keane slapping the ref's yellow card away while punching WGB....being treated like a criminal by your OB, having to wipe spit of my face while being called scum etc etc.

Not sour grapes at all...just fotball mate :-)

LR, I've said this to you before: your fans seem to think that their own shit doesn't stink. Sorry someone called you scum. I'm sure you're sorry that I got spat at at OT about five years ago. SBA and I both got spat at at Upton Park last season: it happens. Unfortunately, you lot don't seem to acknowledge that you're as bad as anyone else.

The Sky interview was slightly better light for Gergie. He said that in a couple of years, maybe even next year he would look back on this game and say it was a wonderful game of football. With great goals from both sides. He's getting old and soft :0)

That is a ridiculous thing to say Douggie. I personally have NEVER been challenged to answer for the behaviour of Manchester United fans nor anyone I know so how can I acknowledge anything?

I was merely justifying why I had a bastard's head on.

I admit that the discussions on here aren't always memorable but I have discussed with you several times the fact that all clubs have w....r fans. It's in the nature of football supporters to imagine that their w.....rs are better than anyone else's but I've never yet met a Manc who even admits the "w.....r factor". But this is all getting un peu wearisome.

It seems to me that perhaps Keane went off his head ,knowing he'd get sent off, which would take the gloss off our victory. We're all talking about the incident more than the cracking game that we saw.

Nah, he's just a bad loser with a thugish temperament. The first bit is fine (as it goes, show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser), but the 2nd is unacceptable. Taking a swing just isn't on.

Let's just get this right Bobby. Take the ball-on-head incident away and the 1st contact was made my Shearer. He prodded / poked RK in the chest. Keane then flicked at Shearer's head. Not a clenched fist...not throwing a punch. I have a picture of it....from the Star today. Go see. You'll notice Keane's open hand..not a fist. You'll also notice in the background many many smiling Geordie faces. Laughing as they see Keane lose it. Probably the very same faces today are describing Keane as a thug and an animal. Funny how they got a few smiles and giggles out of it before the bandwagon rolled by eh?

Sorry LR - The picture is on just about every site and it looks like a fist to me. Prodded, Poked? He laid a gentle flat hand on his chest to try to calm him down! :o))

My tv must be picking up the same crap reception I used to get in Hillingdon. Shearer didn't touch him, just tried to delay the throw in (bookable?). Keane bounced the ball off the back of Al's head, and when lovable Roy was being booked, Al made some comments. Keane swung his arm at Al and missed. I know his palm was open, but are you saying RK was trying to girly slap Shearer?

Keane plays up his hard man image, and you know it. Just like Batty used to for us. The bandwagon left some time ago, and I missed my connection...just like Roy.
