True Californians

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Thomas Burnett, Jr., Mark Bingham, and others, many Californians, are true American heros. These men, authorities believe, were at least partially responsible for preventing Flight 93 from being used as a weapon of terror, sacrificing their lives in the process.

Americans need to be proud of these people, and Californians, especially proud. I have heard my state refered to in this forum as the Land of Fruits and Nuts. Now it must be the Land of Fruits, Nuts, and Heros...

Kathy I stand with you in honoring those brave men. I've never been as proud of this country as I am each time I look at all the volunteers working tirelessly to clear the rubble at the site of the former WTC.

Glad to join you in a good word for these guys. Almost makes me cry just to think about the heroism of those men in bringing down their flight short of its target.

Way to go Californians. I was born and raised in So. California. I guess it does make one tough. I saw it all and went to school with some very tough punks. And I never let anyone push me around. I knew that's what happened on that plane. They got em. I would've jumped them too, that sort of thing really angers me. I think this is really going to make Americans start fighting back. Those folks gave their lives to save others. They are true heros and we are very proud of them.

A neighbor of mine (until a few short months ago), Rich Guadagno, was on the flight that crashed in PA. He was a federal wildlife agent at Baskett Slough (1/2 mile from my home), and though he did not make a cell call to his family, I am SURE he was one of the men who attempted to wrest the plane away from those bastards. He was a fine man, who, needless to say, did not deserve to die.

The first time I met him, he gave me a ticket for hunting during a closed period (the goose season in Western Oregon is very complicated) after I had checked with Oregon fish and wildlife to make sure the season was open. When I told him my story, he promised to check into it himself, then went to bat for me, and got the ticket DROPPED himself. I never met a more straightforward, honest, and involved Fed than Rich. He could have dropped the hammer, but he believed in me, and followed through with what he had promised he would do. I will never forget him, and his kind demeanor (so often lacking in those whose job is in federal law enforcement). I will sorely miss him.

Rest in peace Rich, and God bless you and your family.

I too honor the fine Americans who fought for all of us that day. They are fine examples of the fighting spirit that won our countries freedom and has saved so many countries and innocent people over our short history. I wonder how they would feel about Rep Barbara Lee's (D-Calif) vote on giving the President the power to use force?
