"Prepare For Battle"

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unk's Wild Wild West : One Thread

In WWII, we found ourselves fighting side by side with many countries from around the world…..the USSR was not one of them. Although we shared a common enemy, the Soviet military came at the Nazis from a different direction. I predict you are about to witness that which was unthinkable until this past Tuesday: The United States and Russia, fighting side by side against a new common enemy….Muslim Extremists.

When you look around at the world’s ‘hot spots’, you will find Muslim Extremists hard at work to butcher non-believers in the name of Allah. These are a people who do not listen to reason nor care to negotiate. If we are to survive their presence then we must eliminate them to the last person.

Don’t make the mistake of labeling them as camel humping, desert dwelling, wild-eyed zealots. As you will discover in the next few weeks, these are highly educated, well-financed, and extremely motivated people…..often backed by the governments of various countries. They have a ‘what do we have to loose’ mind-set and we and our allies will be in for a fight to the end.

When was the last time we had an enemy that could muster up pilots who would gladly give their lives to kill us? You might remember what it took to bring those folks to the point of surrender.

This new enemy will never surrender under ANY circumstance.

I agree that they must be defeated, immediately. The question is how? It would be folly to invade Afghanistan. The Russians learned that, the British learned that, Ghengis Khan learned that. In our passion, let's not send young Americans to learn that.

Covert action is the way to go. Assassination, smart bombs, international banking (where does he keep his money), international pressure (use US clout to make this guy a pariah). Eliminate his cells in this country. Eliminate them with extreme prejudice. Don't worry about hurting the feelings of Arab Americans. Most of them want him dead too.

Keep US military off the ground in Afghanistan. The logistics are impossible. And no nukes. They will retaliate. You say they have no delivery system? Sure they do---people.

Kill him and his hydra-heads but don't be constrained to conventional 20th century war unless there is no other choice. Go covert, go dirty, maintain deniabilility, don't make him a martyr, don't squander American youth. And above all don't go squishy (ie, don't "negotiate", don't try to arrest him and "convict" him of a crime). Lynch him, but do it smart.

{Don't worry about hurting the feelings of Arab Americans.}

Americans are Americans. They deserves the same liberties as you and I. How would you feel if all Norwegian-Americans were to be beaten and accused based on their eye and hair color, glared at and ridiculed because of their heritage, what if it was your son, daughter, mother, brother? I understand that this hate is all- consuming if you allow it to control your mind. Please don't let it.

Socr@tes,

You are so correct in the words which you have written. Unfortunately, it may take some time for certain people to realize that the words you wrote are true. I can only pray that is not the case.

Even with the potential losses that we as a country, no we as a world may suffer, these terrorist attacks must end. It could have occured anywhere in this country. Sad to say, but I do not feel that it is over but only just the beginning.

Currently, I am alone to face this crisis. While I wish that others were around, there are jobs to be done. May we as a nation stand as one. May we stand proud. Just because our soil may be blackened, we are still strong. Ideals are worth defending, and defend them we must.

Live long America! We must be doing something right, cause if we weren't they would want to take us down.

Lars,

I believe that you are wrong when you said that they will retaliate. As Tuesday's events clearly showed, they do not abide by conventional standards of military thought.

To think that they have not used a nuclear weapon because we have yet to use one against them is erroneous, in my opinion. They have yet to use one because they haven't yet figured out how to do it. Rest assured, that if they do figure it out, Tuesday will pale in comparison.

I agree with Lars. The way to handle this is to go after them and their supporters quietly and surgically.

A very good movie to rent now is "The Tank". I don't know the director, but it stars Jason Patrick. It's about a single Soviet tank that's been seperated from it's division, fighting the Mohajdim rebels in Afghanistan while trying to get back to a safe area. It's supposed to be a fairly realistic recreation of what it was like for the Soviets. What I remember from watching it is how much it would have sucked to be out there - the land was almost like a moonscape, populated by scattered, stealthy, fanatical, alien-like tribes. The Western viewer tends to really identify with the Soviet soldiers; a weird concept to imagine.

I think it did show some scenes meant to make the viewer aware of the motivations of the rebels, also, but I honestly don't remember much of that. I think I'll rent it again.

Save your money. Soon, you will see a much better show, live and in color.

Catherine Linton--

Yes, you quoted me right. Note that I did not say to persecute Arab Americans, I just said not to "worry about hurting their feelings". I'm positive that most Arab Americans are in special agony by what has happened. Stll, a small part of them are 5th columnists. Somehow we must identify the terrorists who hide among us.

I would say the same thing if the terrorists were an odd clique of neo-Vikings.

I am not consumed by hate. But we cannot let sentimentality prevent us from pursuing vigilence and justice.

I would say the same thing if the terrorists were an odd clique of neo-Vikings.

(Warning: Randy Moss has a plan for the NY Giants on 11/19. It might be considered terrorism by the NYG D-backs.)

An article in our local paper today mentioned how a couple of the terrorists who were in the flight school in Florida seemed very normal and freindly to their neighbors down there - their kids played video games with neighbor kids, they had minivans, etc. Then about two weeks ago their families left - a van came up, honked, and they were just gone.

I hated reading that - I don't want to feel like I have to be looking over my shoulder at "normal" Arab-Americans, I don't want to be that type of paranoid person. If our intelligence community can root out the people with ties to terror, we can all rest easier, including the Arab-Americans who have done nothing wrong.

Would this mean a period of civil-rights infringment on Arab- Americans? Not actual civil-right infractions, but grey-area activity? It might. And it might be necessary for the good of everyone in the long run - including, as I said, non-radical American Arabs who care about their country (U.S.A).
