What is the setting for Poe's "The Conqueror Worm" abd what is the worm supposed to be?

The "Conqueror Worm" represents death, and man's inevitable end. The setting , as described in the poem, is a theatre. It is suggested that mankinds existance is nothing but a play for the angels.
