no price gouging in oklahoma

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

i was reading the posts about price gouging in other states. our governor, frank keating, came on tv awhile ago and said that oklahoma has anti-price gouging laws, sellers are only allowed to bump prices up 10% at the very most over the original prices. its now 9pm and i just back from filling up, i paid $1.47 for regular unleaded, which is the same price its been for over a week now. there is a hotline to call in to report any price gouging and folks here are just not going to put up with being screwed. some stations have cars waiting in line but i was lucky and didn't have to. people are just panicking and there is no reason to panic.

my heart and prayers go out to the victims and families, and yes to each and every one of us, we are all victims too.

GOD BLESS AMERICA, and be sure to support our President and leaders.

Gene, I sure hope that is true. My daughter said that people were waiting in line in Shawnee and my other daughter said the kids at OSU were worried about gas prices. I did hear something about it from Gov. Keating but was too worried about the other events of the day that I didn't pay much attention to it and it was before the girls called panicking about the events of the day and gas which I understand about the events but I pay for the gas!

Thanks Gene, I sure do pray Kentucky has some laws about this. I haven't heard anything yet. Steve works in Louisville, and it's allready 50 a week now for gas for him. Our gas was 1.39 this morning.

Well here in Louisiana we believe in making money the old fashion way. We gouge! Up .10 cents a gallon every hour. I beleive that should be labeled domestic terrorism and those responsible should also be prosecuted. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I had heard from my Bro-in-law in Weatherford, OK, that the prices were going crazy - $3 & $4 a gallon. Hope it's settled back down now. Those greedy station owners should be drawn and quartered!

Michigan - $1.72 this morning and now at 10:30 pm $3.19 a gal. with police directing traffic. This is the most stupid thing I have ever seen, this people waiting in line and paying outrageous prices. If I run out of gas I'm staying home and I told them at work that too,I'll be damm if I am going to follow all the other poor stupid sheep to slaughter. Our Governor has said nothing about stopping it either, what a little weasel.

was still 1.76 in wisconsin when we went into town this evening to fill gas tanks and containers up. dad said in peoria the news there said to expect at least 4 a gallon tomorrow, $6 in chicago. i'm sure ours will be up too up here tomorrow. our prices are already high. if we drive to minnesota or iowa, we save 20 cents a gallon.

Calm down Folks, I live in one of the most gas guzzling states (FL).There are no lines! I paid 1.57 per gallon , yesterday. No reason to suspect an immediate increase. Hell! they cannot hold ME hostage to any outrageous gas price! I WILL WALK, if they try, And then, where will they be? They will not be selling gas, as I hoof it on past their station. And "Hoof it", I will......God Remains on High!

Well, early this afternoon my husband and I went to town (a trip planned since Friday) among other things we needed gas. WE got to town at about 12:30, the gas was $1.45 at the station we usually use. We made a couple of stops and then went to gas up, by that time the prices had gone to $1.69 at our usual station and they had a long line. We had however just passed a station that had not raised thier prices yet, we went back there. As my husband paid for the gas we got, the station got the order to raise prices. I don't know how the prices sit now. We waited in line a long time and if we hadn't really needed it we would have blown it off. Most of these people that were in line lived in town and the town is only about 2000 people, I can't think of anyplace there that is out of walking distance. The panic is being taken advantage of. Pathetic. Tana in south central MO.

Gene, I live in Edmond (just north of OKC) and the prices between here and Shawnee (I was there this evening) went from $1.45 on the trip down about 3:30 up to $1.99 on the trip home (about 8:30). Prices were scattered, one station would be $1.59 and the next $1.89. By the time we were back to Edmond about 8:30, the prices seem to have settled back to the $1.50 - $1.59 marks they were this morning. Seems old Frank got his message across.

On my way into Richmond, VA. this morning I only saw two places, East Coast 1.49 and Wawa 1.47 that had raised their price. All other stations were 1.27-135, this is for regular.
