Same is happening in New Orleans. Son says Keesler AFB (MS) evacuated, nonessentials ordered from NAS New Orleans, probly same with all bases across country. Have heard nothing about what's going on here but have been busy!

Oklahoma State offices closed, with the exception of essential people.

Tinker AFB is on 100% security checks!

Hubby is deployed right now (and I joked with him that I'd be at our home paradise as long as he didn't blow up the world)!

My son's school is off the base, but I called to see if they were closing. The school is currently in lock down, and I'm not even sure if I can pick him up if I want to.

Per RAL's forum, it is rumored that Bush may go on the doomsday plane, if so, hubby might just get to meet the CINC.

God, please pray that this is over!

Bush made speech in Shreveport:

Freedom itself was attacked this morning by a faceless coward and freedom will be defended. I want to reassure the American people that the full resources of the federal government are working to assist local authorities to save lives and to help the victims of these attacks. Make no mistake, the United States will hunt down and punish those responsible for these cowardly acts. I've been in regular contact with the Vice President, Secretary of Defense, National Security team and my cabinet. We have taken all appropriate security precautions to protect the American people. Our military at home and around the world is on high alert status and we have taken the necessary security precautions to continue the functions of your government. We have been in touch with the leaders of Congress and world leaders to assure them that we will do whatever is necessary to protect America and Americans. I ask the American people to join me in saying a thanks for all the folks who have been fighting hard to rescue our fellow citizens and to join me in saying a prayer for the victims and their families. The resolve of our great nation is being tested but--make no mistake--we will show the world that we will pass. God bless.

John Ogonowski of Dracut, MA was the pilot of Flight 11.

A very important primary election is taking place in Massachusetts today, to replace Congressman Joe Moakley's seat (he passed away from cancer a couple months ago). The Secretary of State (who is clearly intending to run for Government so grabs all the press time he can) was threatening to close down the polls. However, our Acting Governor (and Attorney General) made a big show about how this was a particularly important time to display our vestiges of liberty by getting out to vote in force, so she overruled the Secretary. Unfortunately, there aren't any worthy candidates.
