Boycott this!

From the topic of voting with your dollar:

What business do you refuse to let have your money and why? Just got treated like poop by a cashier? Because they fund hate groups? Sell products that were tested on baby seals?

Give me a reason to take my business elsewhere.

I'd say Black Eyed Pea (it's a restaurant; not sure if they have it everywhere) ...um, this might just be my thing, but it always would make me sick, so I stopped going back. some others had similar reactions but not everytime. just go at your own risk!! if you haven't already....

I still have trouble going to Exxon gas stations (now they own Mobil, so them too I guess)ever since the Valdez accident. It's hard to forget how they tried to weasel out of responsibility for all that destruction. It's not a terribly logical decision, since every major oil company has its share of spills. But Exxon is the one I swore not to use, and largely, I haven't. Now that I'm in the city without a car, it's moot anyway.

Heh...my dad works for the Exxon refinery

My husband has been boycotting Hawaiian Punch ever since the commercial aired which depicted Punchy doing the Macarena. It's been about 7 years now.

Julie, thank you for that. I needed a Monday morning laugh...it might even keep me going for the whole day...Punchy doing the Macarena...hahahahahaha....

Well, I know I'll never set foot in Abercrombie and Fitch after those awful t-shirts and the thong underwear for little kids (???). I also boycott Radio Shack. I won't go into the long sordid story, but basically I once tried to return something and they refused to honor their own warranty.

It took Kay to remind me: Smith & Hawken won't ever get another penny of mine. If I received a gift certificate to there, I would pick something out to use as a gift for another person. Basically they totally screwed me with a large Christmas order.

Sorry Amber. No dissing of your dad intended. As I said, it's not the most logical boycott.

Oh, PG - what happened with S&H? I adore their catalogue, and want to know before I order something if i should just go elsewhere.

Land's End? Associated with Se@rs and off my shopping list forever. Hate Se@rs with the kind of passion only a woman who lost an entire freezer full of food in one of their defective appliances can be, especially after they kindly explained they couldn't honour the warrantee because, and I quote, "... this isn't a commercial freezer. It isn't meant to be filled to capacity." I didn't know there was a percentage capacity that could not be exceeded, but apparently there was.
