My bet is that the doctors will try to avoid sawing off Spike's leg at the knee.

Swampfox, What kind of idiotic comment was that. Our leader is hurt and you make jokes that are completely inappropriate. They will saw the leg off slightly above the knee. Get it straight.

I don't know about you, but if I were entertaining any thoughts of winning the 2002 US trail-o championships, I'd start training right away! Won't be too long before Spike is up and about shopping for one of those high-tech wheelchairs.

Having just read Mike's description of the accident, I'm reminded of a similar accident to a female adventure racer in the 2000 Southern Traverse. She was descending a snow covered slope. Discovery Channel showed the hyper-extending of her knee with fairly realistic computer graphics and in slow motion. I could barely keep from covering my eyes.

I'm hope you get good news from the doctors.

My apologies. Snorkel, I stand corrected. But Spike's knee isn't the only thing that is hurting. Some sort of malevolent bug thing has partially crippled Spike's most excellent blog.

PS -- Unless you want to totally fry your retinas, I recommend *not* looking at the photo Spike has labeled "JJPeter". Even though I had on double layers of sunglasses and only took the briefest glance, I fear some permanent damage may have been suffered.
