They didn't - I don't believe they were on the bench either.

We won 3-1 btw - another trophy for the cabinet! We'll need a bigger one a this rate.

Clarky's right - neither Griff nor Marshmallow were on the bench at Blyth tonight. Indeed, I didn't see either in the Croft Park bar after the game either.

The game was litterally end-to-end, with the keepers often exchanging clearances and the Terriers having a slight advantage in the first half. We were probably lucky to go in 1-1 at halftime with McMenamin nudging in a ball which was going wide to equalise just before halftime. Terriers had gone ahead with a well taken goal and could easily have gone two up (deservedly) but hit the post when thru (tho he looked miles yards offside.

Bedlington ran out of steam after about an hour, and when Tommy Craig made an inspired dual substitution, bring on Offiong and Chopra, they started to run the weary Bedlington team raged, each bagging a goal.

YBR was up in the stand (as usual) and saw little (IMHO and Clarky's O) to inspire for the future - until TC's substitution. Neither Caldwell looked ready to make the grade and McClen was subbed at h/t having made little positive impression. Olivier Bernard started the game at LB but was moved forward to replace McClen after halftime and looked far better for it. However, I can't see him playing any role on Wednesday (Lua x2 wasn't on the bench so must be in with a chance). Gavilan was quite poor - certainly not looking like making the jump to replace Nobby in the first team. Perhaps it's the opposition, or perhaps it's the surfaces they play on, but I have probbly seen him play 10 or so resorve games in the last season or so and he has regularly failed to impress. Either stick him in the first team and let him prove his worth or cut losses and get rid. Sorry Diego, but you do not appear to have lived up to the money we paid for you :-(

Up front, we didn't really show much either - until Coppy was replaced by Choppy and Offy was on. It probably had somethjing to do with the opposition's stamina, but of the 14 on show tonight, only those two subs gave me much hope for the future.

Anyway - as Clarky says, it's another trophy in the cabinet. Nice to see YBR wagging chins with "Big Jack" in the bar afterwards. If I was mischievous, I might suggest they were discussing Jack's return to SJP as YBR's young understudy ;-))
