Today, September 9, we, members of the Catholic Church family, honor in a special way the following friends of God, saints whose souls are now in heaven:

St. Peter Claver (Spanish, Jesuit priest, missionary to African slaves in West Indies and South America, d. 1654)
St. Gaudridus (French, Benedictine abbot, d. 1139)
St. Gorgonius (Roman pagan in court of Diocletian, converted and hanged in 303)
St. Hyacinth (Italian, martyr)
St. Isaac the Great (Armenian, bishop, d. 440)
St. Joseph of Volokolamsk (Lithuanian, abbot, d. 1515)
Bl. Mary de la Cabeza (Spanish, wife of St. Isidore the Farmer, c. 1175)
St. Osmanna (French, noblewoman, c. 650)
