The dishonourable douggie must be over the moon at the news that badly as the shares are doing, shareholders are in for a bumper payout.

The fact that he has the largest holding of shares had absolutely nothing to do with the decision to pay shareholders this massive bonus which seems to be against all business logic. Not against greed, mind. Also, nice to learn that Bobby apparently put his job on the line if the directors signed Andrew. Good onyer Bobby.

Where are you quoting this stuff from, Pit Bill? Tell us more.

I was surprised to read in one of the papers this morning - can't remember which one as the old man buys them all - that Dougie had done a good deed. Apparently he spent £25,000 on a 1,000 tickets for the Albania game and gave them away to local schools. Made a change to read something decent about him.

Mail on Sunday's Rob Draper the 'Toongate two' article, the Observer the 'Bobby effectively put his job on the line over Andy Cole' piece.

Apparently the Halls, in the guise pf Wynyard Ltd and Cameron Hall, have received £2.36 million from the club in dividend payments in the last year. Results will be announced later this month and the Newcastle board has decided to 'look favourably' at continued dividend payments, despite the shares having halved in value over the year.

Shepherd Offshore was entitled to £378,224 in share dividends over the same period.

Are we daft bu66ars missing something ?

Hmmmm, most PLC's with dwindling or static share prices will try to keep shareholders happy with a better divedend payout. It's not as if there hasn't been investment in players.

Interestingly enough the Observer also said that the board brokered a deal with Fulham for Lee Clark but Bobby said no. In the light of Bobby's post match comments on Robert, the system seems to be that Freddie & Dougie sort out the potential players & then invite Bibby to say yes or no. Makes sense when you think of Trevor Sinclair shenanagins.

Where will we be when Bobby eventually does go and our next manager maybe doesn't have as little to lose as Bobby, and can't afford to put his job on the line by trying to 'overrule' the board ?

I can't see many of the board's signings being of the calibre of Alan Shearer.

Or Robert's? Compares well with Bassedas's, Gavilan's & Cordone's I'd say

Fair comment Dave, it's just that it puzzles me why they go behind Bobby's back. Smacks of something like the same contempt in which we seem to be held.

I think Bobby keeps a very big list of players who he'd consider, the duo check on availablity and then Robson says yea or nay at the time they become available.

There's a certain degree of consolation in that Mac, if it's really the way things are, so I'll go with it, because the viewpoint I keep ending at, I don't believe a word that comes from the mouths of at least two board members.

I think the only word that comes out of any board member apart from the ones you have in mind is "Yes"
