How long have we gone since a loss (any competion)?

When was the last time we had such a good run?

Eleven games since May 5th. Now, who's next??? Brentford. Then??? A Baker's dozen would be nice.

Be very careful about tempting fate: Brentford beat Tranmere 4-0 yesterday and are hardly short of confidence just now. Major banana-skin in waiting.

I'll go with Screach - 13 in a row would do.

I'll be coming back for 6 days so I hope to see 2 big wins next Wednesday and Saturday, as well as taking a walk across the Millenium Bridge (Pont Toon as someone called it) when it officially opens, and having a go at the Great North Run (though I've damaged my Achilles so I think I'm only going do the bit from the start down to across the Tyne Bridge). I guess 4-0 against Brentford and 2-1 against Man Utd (go 1 down then usual comeback)

Hmmm - did anybody see/hear about Vera and Keano yesterday? MF is gonna have to be on form to keep tabs on them next w/e. But their defence looke a tad suspect against pace. Time to introduce Olivier B to run at 'em??

Well then, that must be a real worry, Screach - cos our m/f in the 1st half hour yesterday was run ragged by the Smoggies.
Hardly encouraging - but Robert & Solano were 'missing in action' during that initial period - as the Sunday Times puts it - ".... leaving Lee and Acuna trying to put out fires all over the pitch".

Solano continues to be a worry for me. I think YBR should rest him on Wednesday - or at least out him on the bench and try other options (what??). I'd like to see Gav given a go (haha!) against the Bees. I mean - he is a current international and deserves a start or two, tho if anything, he'd probably go with Lua x2 or Bassedas.

I could be tempted to give Hughes a man marking role in MF on Saturday, tho with Vera and Keane, I think I know who might come off the pitched the more "marked". That would leave room for O'Brien, who IMHO has acquitted himself pretty well when he's come on as sub.

However, I do share your concerns Clarky. The best way to beat ManUre is to attack them with width and pace (while watching for the lightening quick counter attacks!). Robert will do that down the left. Bellamy will do it through the middle. But who would do it down the right? Another pacy player is Bernard, but again left-sided and too big a stage for him??

Ah well - I'll just have to wait until I see your TeamPick. BTW - 2 disastrous selections from you and me yesterday :-(

we lost against Atletico in Rob Lee's testimonial.....

Sparxx - which is quite interesting because the Smogs beat Athletico 3-0 in Fleming's testimonial.

But that one didn't count Sparxx. KP asked about any competition and if you'd been there, you'd have realised that there was no competition from us at all in that game ;-)

Boro were playing their hearts out against Bilbao.

Apart from Robert, we had nothing to prove and didn't want to get injuries with the Intertoto game coming up.

BTW, all this talk about unbeaten runs is a bit strange since we have drawn a canny few.

Can you not remember Brian Kidd at Blackburn? He drew about 8 in a row or something and everyone was singing his praises for being unbeaten, but if you drew every game in the season you'd be relegated, no doubt.

However, draws are certainly better than losses :)
