My uncle used to get most months free when he had Sky.

He'd ring them up saying how he didn't want to pay £30 a month just to watch wrestling on Sky Sports and that he wanted to cancel. They would ring him up a few days later and give him a month's free trial to try to tempt him back.

I think he got about 5 or 6 free months before the trick stopped working.

They have such a domination of the market now that they have no need to tempt people back. I think they have something like 8:1 customers compared to ITV Digital (formerly ON)

I got 3 months free, after a period of having 10 engineers out to solve a quality problem, I had 3 new boxes the problem eventually was traced to the dish. I threatened to cancell and got freebies.

PS. Anyone wants to know how to get free pay per view mail me direct.

I cancelled my subscription and then moved in with my girlfriend. Set up Sky again and all my channels were still on.

That was 13 months ago!

I'm wondering how long it will be before Sky crush ITV Digital for their ill-advised Nick Hancock adverts as to how they offer more football than Sky. You keep poking that hornets' nest with that twig and you'll be sorry...
