Many thanks...

I just wanted to thank all of you for your help with my M4-2 problem that I posted yesterday. One answer I got from Tom Abrahamsson ( www.rapidwinder.com (Rapidwinder, Rapidgrip & Softrelease information) and I quote: "Daniel, your problem with the M4-2 is no news to me. I had several M4-2's when they came out and a couple of them showed the same problem. It is no big deal to get adjusted, it is the shaft from the shutter release that jams and when you apply pressure oh the advance lever it frees it up. The reason that it works without film is that the tension from the take-up spool is released. Once you put film in it, it increases the "drag" on the filmadvance and binds. I would talk to Reinhold Mueller in Toronto, phone: 416-467-6992 and he can probably fix it for you. Otherwise the M4-2 is a good camera. Some of the very early ones had problem with shutterbounce at slow speeds but that was easily fixed too."That seems to take care of that. I just wanted to add that all of you, Bob, Lutz, Phil, Jeff ...etc... and this forum are a great inspiration to an old soul like mine that has been shooting way too many ad campaigns for many years and although they hire me for my creative input and spontaneity and I have won many prizes I seem to have stored away that freshness that you guys have maintained. I am not sure if I am using the right words , but I am greatfull to my shutter problems because it allowed me to discover this forum. Having read a lot of the questions and answers posted, I would like to add what Jacques-Henri Lartigue told me one day when I asked him why he was using a Pentax Slr, he replied because I do their ads but don't full yourself it's not the camera it's the heart and the guts that are the tools one needs to shoot a photo the black box is only a small extension. It is so easy in this digital era to get lost in so much technique that alot of young photographers loose the basic essence of our common passion: Light, Shadows and Spontaneity. I have shot campaigns with throw away cameras loaded with Tri-X to 8x10 (20x25 for my european friends) and I have maintained that same feel right threw. I guess Lartigue was right after all, the shot is in your heart and in your head before it reaches that viewfinder independently of its size. In any case it boils down to what ever inspires us. In this case I guess shooting with a Leica. Thanks again to all of You. Daniel
