Well, well. It's early:30 and I am awake.

You know, I never had allergies before I moved to Texas, and when I moved back to the southeast, I assumed they'd go away. Not so. I'm sort of sick, and very stuffed up - this coming at an untimely moment since I have an audition today at one at the Cathedral of St. Philip.

An audition I'm not totally prepared for, since I just found out about it yesterday. I mean, I could have been preparing all along you know, but that would have meant I was responsibe and all that.

So, y'all wish me luck. Pray to St. Cecilia. I didn't really want to take another church job, because it's a lot of time for a little money and it screws up the weekends (especially at an Anglican church where one could conceivably sing in four services on any given Sunday), but as I have said, desperate times, desperate measures.

That table is cool!

Y'all. I got a callback. From the gymnastics people. Why, God? Why?

Tell more about the church job. What do you do? Just sing on Sundays?

-- Anonymous, September 06, 2001

Oh, AB, that's great. And very hilarious. You'd be great! Do it!

I've had two church jobs since college. Both have been at Methodist churches, which are usually easy. I sing the Wednesday rehearsal and the Sunday services, with one or two solos a month. St. Phil's has an Evensong service at 4 on Sundays which will be a total WHIP, but I need the cash.

Actually, the WORST part about it is that they have their rehearsals on Thursday nights (unheard of!) and that means I will have to miss bluegrass night at the Red Light Cafe, which is our favorite thing to do in the world.

I'm going right now to talk to them. And then, to find Madeleine some soccer shoes, after we went a hundred places yesterday and didn't find any. Allison Lowe, you are going to be so sad you moved, because Madeleine in Umbros and a soccer jersey has GOT to be the funniest thing I ever saw.

I'm giving St. Cecilia some time for you, baby. Sing Poor Old Willie, and they can't refuse you.

H, did you get your page back?

AB - I think you'd be the best coach evah! I think that would be fun. Is it for a gym or the YMCA or something?

I did get it. Thank you! I'll put it up tonight and hopefully it's all fixed.

It's for a big old gym--Kurt Thomas's (the gymnast, not the Knick). It's asigymnastics.com if you'd like to look.

Oh, I'm very sad. Just ask the MOC. We were in Target the other night and I made him wait forever while I ran around looking for hair bows with soccer balls on them. I couldn't find any, but I will. Yes, I will. I was like "MAD is playing SOCCER! Don't you UNDERSTAND?!"

What position did you apply for? Assistant coach?

-- Anonymous, September 06, 2001

Coach.

Y'all. I just talked to Douglas's mom? (He's my stepbro who lives in Ft. Worth.) Yeah. She's going to call the CEO OF PIER 1 (her "friend", you know) for me. I'm dying.

YES! That's good, AB. The connections. Surely, with the arrival of fall, things are looking up for all of us.

-- Anonymous, September 06, 2001

Oh, Al! I was looking for soccer bows yesterday and couldn't find any! Crazy Mad needs one.

I just talked to my mom--she's saying the Miracle Prayer for both of us. Yay for Catholic mothers!

Y'all! I was just reading YM and there's an article on my high school's cheerleaders in there. So cool! I get too excited about shit like that. But there are 3,900 students now. There were only about 3,000 when I graduated. Of course, that was 7 years ago. (sob.)

Al, I'm praying to both St. Cecelia AND Mrs. Seest.

I can't wait to find out how the audition went. Later on, I'll tell you about the dream I had last night.

-- Anonymous, September 06, 2001

Joh - is the article online?

-- Anonymous, September 06, 2001

I don't know. It's the Sept. YM, which now apparently stands for Your Magazine. Remember when it changed from young miss to young and modern?

How was the audition? The call back?

I had to go get a coffee drink because I feel like I'm about to lapse into a coma.

Audition sucked. But we'll see.
