Is Distin in? (aka Back to Square One?)

This from Sky, though essentially the same story is on the BBC and ICNewcastle sites:

Robson: seeking to bolster defence.

MAGPIES CLOSING IN ON DISTIN

Newcastle United are in talks with Paris St Germain defender Sylvain Distin, according to the French club.

Distin is in Newcastle today to discuss a possible move to St James' Park and could seal a move before the weekend.

Magpies boss Bobby Robson is believed to want Distin - a former target of Bolton - initially on loan, but PSG want a cash deal.

The French side value the 23-year-old left-back at around £4million.

Distin was reported to be on his way to Bolton, but Trotters boss Sam Allardyce pulled out of a potential deal.

That's the situation exactly as it was when Distin visited at the time of the Mackem game, isn't it?

There has been no official confirmation yet, the above story is probably about right.

There must have been some uncertainty about Distin. I wouldn't like to have seen £4 m wasted on another Goma/Marcelino/Domi. If it's fallen through then we'll just have to look elswhere for a better defender.

Goma wasnt a bad defender he's just injury prone - Like fergi , Shearer, Dyer, Pistone, Cort, Griffin. we should be looking at our training regime / conditions..

It's on, it's off, it's on, it's off, it's soton.

So is he a Wadsworth recommendation? Maybe we're lucky not to get him afterall? How'd this straw get into my hand?
