Arrogance? why??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Century phone-in tonight and your lot are so sure that you will beat Boro.Pride before a fall? Just 'cos you have 2 draws form 2 games you lost last season this does NOT make you title challengers.

Why do you say it's arrogance sk? Let's face it, the Smoggies haven't even scored a goal yet, and we should get something out of it. I suppose you could argue that Boro are due to do something and this could be their day.

However, if your lot were playing the Boro on Saturday, would you not expect your fans to be confident of winning?

Who are your lot playing this weekend anyway, and whaddya reckon gonna happen?

-- Anonymous, September 03, 2001

Boro aren't that bad a side and are due a win but if we are to get in the top six, we have to win this.

-- Anonymous, September 03, 2001

We are playing Blackburn .Form sugests probably a draw but historical statistics suggest a home win. Therefore applying that logic to your match a home win would be the likely outcome.Wonder how the bookies have it?

How man, Kev - your lot were calling the Three Legends predicting you'd stuff us. Get a grip.

Why are you telling us? I like the way you extrapolate the mood of every Newcastle fan from a handful of phone in callers. They're a pretty self-selecting group - you're not going to call a phone in to express your ambivalence, are you? Personally, I think it would be fairly typical if this was the game in which Boro started to click. On the other hand we've got a fairly good record agin 'em. Could go either way but we ought to take something from it.

Extrapolate?????? It's a bloody monday night, don't use words like that! Fair enough i cannot paint you all the same colour but it is done to us ie All Sunderland fans are racists, All Sunderland fans want Reid out, etc etc

-- Anonymous, September 03, 2001

Hold on...ambivalence.I am from Gateshead y'knaa! Not all in Whickham are snobs who use big words.

-- Anonymous, September 03, 2001

Yes they are, those that aren't are just inverted snobs

Oh and Kev, I used to baby sit Paul Fenwick, couldn't belive it was him, haven't seen him in 20 years so he's still a chubby faced, curly faired wee kid to me

Re Paul Fenwick: To be honest in the last years(maybe since leaving school)he could have walked past me in the street and i would not have recognised him.And this is despite the fact that i sat next to him form the 1st to the 5th year in the comp in the reg class.Buffs son was in the gang as well before his caladonian future! I can remember Paul at school recieving an award for not missing a day at school between the age of 4-15.Straight a student.Where did it all go wrong? He would (by memory)be the last person i would have thought would develop an alcohol problem.Maybe the area around there is jinxed? Remember the lad who died young from Crowley Avenue? I think his name was Steven tinkler.

Newcastle haven't lost away to Boro in the Premiership and I sincerely hope it isn't going to change in the near future.

The Boro fans reckon it's a big local derby, bless them

The game could go anyway. On paper, we should come away with three points. However, it would be typical Newcastle if we gave Boro their first point(s) of the season - remember, er who was it? The Wham concert last season :-(

-- Anonymous, September 03, 2001

Wham concert??

Do you know my sister Kev, Marion, slim dancer was in Axwell, can't work out her school year but she was in Feb 66 if that helps place her. Saw her last weekend for the first time in ages (she lives in Portugal) and she was really upset about Paul.
