I bought a set -- I think -- through the Southern Railway Historical Association 'Grab' a few years ago. I haven't seen them advertise it lately. However, one of my volumes turned out to be defective, so I contacted the publisher in 2001 and got it replaced -- so they have some left. The book is, "Brosnan: The Railroads' Messiah" by Charles O. Morgret. The list price for the 2-volume set is $70.00. It is published by: Vantage Press 516 W 34th Street New York, NY 10001

ISBN is 0-533-11376-8; Library of Congress cat. card is 94-90817.

Richard Saunders new book "Merging Lines:American Railroads 1900-1970" is a good source for the "other side" of Brosnan. A goodly portion of his Chapter on the Southern Railroads talks about him and his very nasty temper and demeanor, as well as what Saunders refers to as the "Central of Gerogia Debacle". He was a flawed genius. I have found Mogret's book, as with most biographers, tends to gloss over what most would consider rather important nasty elements of Brosnan's time at Southern.
