Hi there: Does anyone try the RC-1 or RC-5 IR remote release on Rebel 2000? Thanks

As there is no infrared receiver on the Reb 2000 / EOS 300 neither RC would work.

Yes, the manual does say something about wireless remote, as did the Popular Photography review of the Rebel 2000. I called Canon about it, but the service rep didn't know and had to call the techies. Apparently it ws included in the early versions of the camera (and reportedly still in the ones detined for Japan) it was taken out of the US production models (as was a panorama switch, I'm told).

I've got an RF remote for my Rebel 2000 that I modified from a small car alarm transmitter/receiver kit. I removed unnecessary parts from the receiver circuit board and trimmed the board down to a smaller size, just adding the logic for the Canon remote switch interface.

I'm about to buy a BP-200 battery pack to install the electronics into this week.

The plan would be to velcro the transmitter on my Cannondale Jekyll handlebars so that I can set up and then fire the shutter as I ride by (or fly over the handlebars...) for those all-so-important self- portraits while mountain biking!
