PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread

my question is not exactly on E.A. Peo, but it is a poetry question, if anyone can help in any way please help me out. Now when I was younger I read a short story that was written in poetry form. I can't remember the name of the story or its author, but I do remember this:-something about an albatross, some kind of bird -somthing about a ghost ship -and I remember that the main character was a male and he had done something wrong and his punishment was to walk the earth forever and he had to tell people his story to teach them, i think his sin was one of greed or some other evil of that kind. Anyway I also remember that the story was written in ryhmes and I think it starts out describing the "Ghost ship" And one of my friends keeps telling me he thinks it is a poen by E.A. Poe, now I'm not sure but please if you know what I'm talking about pleas help me.

That sounds like Samuel Taylor Coleridge - The Ancient Mariner. It was partly the inspiration for Poe's tale "MS Found in a Bottle."
