Something (else) to p1$$ off the Makems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Just listened to Century on the way hyem. Seems the Makems are getting a bit excited about going for Nicky Barmpot as a replacement for Dim Hucthinson. Set me thinking, that did. We've debated Nobby vs Bobby. Just suppose we sold Nobs for £8-10M. They're talking of Barm Pot being £6-7M. A proven international and not likely to go AWOL as much as the Nobmeister.

Thoughts???

Never rated Barmby myself. He's a canny player but I'd put Nobby before him anyday. Don't get me wrong i'm all for p*ssing the Makems off but not at our expense.

How about we buy Silvestre from ManUre to speed up their move for Arca, the monkey hangers last decent player worth owt.

Wonkey - on an individual game basis, Nobby is probably a better player. But over the whole season, I think Barmby could contribute more than Nobby - not to mention cash-in-hand (as well as the other hidden agenda).

WRT Sylvestre, I'd rather go for Tweety Pie.

DeB, ask your sister to tell the folks at Century to get with the 21st and start webcasting! I miss Goffy in the Morning(not that I'm usually likely to be awake at 3am my time to listen to him on the web) and the 3 Legends show in the evenings. Also, could she tell Goffy to update his site! Thanks. :-)

I read somewhere that Barmby was one of the best paid players in the PL (I can't remember who had unearthed this info but the point was that he was paid more than Alan Shearer). Can you imagine the Makems paying wages like that? I asuppose he might take a drop in wages to get a game?

Barmby is a greedy little get. When he left Middlesboro he said something about wanting to move closer to Hull (his home town) so he went to Everton ??????

There is no way he is worth as much as Nobby, regardless of how often he's in toon.

Why go for Barmby - we could put a bid in for Beckham that Man U couldn't refuse with the £50m or so burning a hole in Freddy's pocket from the summer :)

Barmby - no - never - Luax2 will be better than him in a couple of years. He's a money grabbing . . .

Let the Mackems have him - the "Judas" shirt will fir perfectly!

Frankly, I don't think Barmpot is good enough for us. Where would he play? Given the Solano situation, right wing is a current possibility I suppose, but he's too pedestrian imo to play there, isn't as creative as Dyer or strong enough to play in central m/f.
Nah - pass.

he can't even do that

Barmby left Boro because they signed Juninho and they both couldn't fit into the team.
