Yip - how about the Man Utd day?

-- Anonymous, August 31, 2001

Sounds a good idea. Does it have to be Chinese again (not that I'm complaining but as we've had a rest, what about a change?).

Doug's idea of the ManUre w/e would be good. Might even tempt LR out ;-)

-- Anonymous, August 31, 2001

.................as long as it's not Prawn Sarnies.

PS. You'll probably find all the Thai, Singaporean and Japanese restaurants will be full that weekend ;-)

-- Anonymous, August 31, 2001

I think the reason it's always Chinese is that the Chinese restaurants in Newcastle are within staggering distance of the Strawberry...There's a mint Italian just down from the Strawberry that I went to with Mrs Softie....

Count me in.

-- Anonymous, August 31, 2001

Min will be there - he loves Chinese, don't you Min?

-- Anonymous, August 31, 2001

He likes it so much he apparently had a shirt made out in the same colours....;-)

-- Anonymous, August 31, 2001

Shout me down if I'm out of order, but I was thinking a few more bevvies and a late Italian or somesuch. And even louder shouts if this is even more out of order, better halves as well, again. That might make the Strawberry not such a good place to start.

Hoy it about a bit and see what we can come up with that won't upset too many.

Are "more bevvies" and "the other halves" not mutually exclusive objectives marra?

-- Anonymous, August 31, 2001

There is a modicum of logic in that observation Mr. Clark, but since it's wor lass wuh ahl the money, and I'm only the 62 year old toy boy, I always take a great deal of comfort from the company of my charming financial consultant. :-))

Come to think of it, make it the Liverpool game and there'll be no problem because I'll be on me own that weekend anyway, so trying to get p1ssed in a refined manner won't come into the equation.

But whatever, I'll just go with the flow.

-- Anonymous, August 31, 2001

Pit Bill, I thought we took it as granted that you always went with the flow, ever since you you admitted to having a comodem.

As for better halves, mine will be there. Mind, whether it's the left or right half probably depends on how much I've had to drink on the night ;-)

-- Anonymous, August 31, 2001

Screach
If you're doing it properly, you won't know your better half from the half you wish you'd left at home :-))

-- Anonymous, August 31, 2001

So, any further thoughts on this?

-- Anonymous, September 03, 2001

It's meant to be the day Mrs S and heir get back from the southlands so I'll have to take a rain check unless they put off their return until Sunday.

So are we homing in on the Manure weekend ? And is it insignifcant others only or both others ? And what cuisine ? And what location ? And how many attendees ? :-)

Makes it a bit easier to arrange if these variables are assigned values. :-))

In fact, I'd go so far as to say it greatly reduces the organisational-impossibility-quotient. :-)))

I'm up for the ManUre w/e PB, but I'd really like Mr & Mrs Softie to be there to celebrate Nic's recovery, so if they can't make it that w/e, then I'd go for another - 'pool?? As for cuisine, Italian or Indian would be pretty easy. Dougal mentioned that Eye-Tie down Leazes Lane. But only being a recent prodigal son, I'm not too well up on Toon eateries. As for which half, I'd say all of them.

How about the Spurs weekend, October 20th ? Looks like the Manu w.e. is out for Mrs Softie and the Pool w.e. is out for Mrs. PB.

An alternative would be one of the away game weekends, but since quite a few of us are still daft enough to go to away games :-), I don't really have any hopes along that route.

If anybody has any better ideas, please don't be bashful.

Up to now we have what look like definites from :-

Mr and Mrs Me, Dougal, Mr and Mrs(?) Clarky, Screacher.

Possibles are Mr and Mrs Softie, if we can sort out a suitable day. Need clarification on Min (and Mrs ?).

So, tentative Oct 20, but need more names, then we'll worry about where and what.

Me and probably Jon, depending on the date. What about Italian this time - I thought the Chinese was a rip-off. The one Dougal mentioned is nice.

Is this open for all comers my wifes a Huddesfield town fan tho...

-- Anonymous, September 04, 2001

MU w/e was definitely out for me too but could probably do anything in October.

-- Anonymous, September 04, 2001

Roast beef or fried lamb, Dr??

-- Anonymous, September 04, 2001

That's alright Kennyboy, my missus doesn't like football either ;-), you'd be more than welcome.

-- Anonymous, September 04, 2001

Okay, let's say Oct 20th and Doug's Italian.

I'll keep this bubbling along and then have another review of names a bit nearer the time, with the occasional wake up call for amendments and personnel changes etc.

Any more takers ?

-- Anonymous, September 08, 2001

Sorry - I didn't realise we were going to a takers way. Oct 20th?? It's in my diary (along with the other 364 days of this year).

-- Anonymous, September 08, 2001

So, is it confirmed for the Spurs PPV debacle weekend? Anybody fancy a game of (loosely) five-a-side before???

-- Anonymous, September 30, 2001

Am looking into trains from London but will aim to be there on Fri night before the Spurs match so our very own Saturday Match of the Day spectacular is on for me.

Raphael? Gav? Bobby [you up there yet?] Names!
