It's ABOUT TIME you came to your senses, woman! [I STILL want to see those pictures from your vacation. Have you scanned them? You know my E-mail address.]

-- Anita (Anita_S3@hotmail.com), August 30, 2001.

Here's your Kevlar panties and your helmet and your paddle, dear.

Back and STAYING

-- Sumer (I@aint.saying), August 30, 2001.

You don't need those things Helen offered, 'sumer. There's NOTHING physical going on here.

Remember these three things:

1. Never take ANYTHING anyone says on this forum seriously.

2. Your sense of humor is the most important thing you bring to life. Laugh at whatever rotten thing comes your way.

3. If you don't find yourself laughing within a sufficient period of time, click on that back arrow and fuggedaboutit.

-- Anita (Anita_S3@hotmail.com), August 30, 2001.

Thanks nita and right on..........luv ya

-- Sumer (I@aint.saying), August 30, 2001.

HI SUMER,****WINK****

-- al-d. (dogs@zianet.com), August 31, 2001.

Hey, Sumer! Welcome back, girl! You know, I was really beginning to worry about you. I hope all is well with you and your family; but if you ever need to talk, my e-mail is real. I mean, really -- if I made it up would I put "yahoo" in it?

-- Eve (eve_rebekah@yahoo.com), August 31, 2001.

Welcome back sumer.

-- Debra (Thisis@it.com), August 31, 2001.

Hello dere, kiddo!

"Sumer's here and the time is right for dancing in the streets!"

Yeah, I know. Corny as hell, but WTF. :)

[Digression: Ya know Anita, I have not and shall not adopt your first tenet. Barry has communicated that he takes the same approach to posters as what you laid out above and I must say I find it incomprehensible. But I'm dense as hell and overly serious and hey, you're civil in your discourse, and damn funny at times, and that's more than I can hope for from anyone in an internet forum.]

-- Rich (living_in_interesting_times@hotmail.com), August 31, 2001.

Rich: You've gotta realize that you're gonna get some serial bullies on an open forum. Heh. I just learned that term, myself, due to someone posting the "symptoms" on Uncle Bob's place.

When I was a little girl, I came home from school and told my mom what someone had said about me. She said, "Just let it go in one ear and out the other." That advice has served me well throughout the years.

-- Anita (Anita_S3@hotmail.com), August 31, 2001.

Even taking life too seriously can be detrimental too sometimes.Entertainment value is a good term, especialy when waking up in the morning ; )

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), August 31, 2001.

1. Never take ANYTHING anyone says on this forum seriously.

[Bold emphasis is mine.]

I don't give a hoot about those who use revolving pseudonyms and assault posters. They are rather easily ignored. Your mother's advice to you was sound. But there are posters who have earned my respect, you included, and you can be damned sure I take them, and you, seriously. What I find incomprehensible is that you recommend to sumer lumping everyone into the same inconsequential barrel. Just a bunch of monkeys are we, eh.

Hell, I even take monkeys seriously, in context. :)

I find when there are posters who bring foolishness & nastiness to a forum, with the intent to disrupt and manipulate civil discourse - which is endemic to an open forum such as this - it is then when simple respect between posters is most necessary, if at the very least to act as a balancing mechanism, or a glue which binds the community together in the face of such violence.

One cannot respect another without taking that person seriously as far as I can tell. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this is a quirk of my nature.

Maybe I'm in the wrong place. The obvious eludes my grasp far too often. "Why am I always the last to find out?" would serve as an appropriate epitaph if I were to have a marker for my grave.

-- (b@by with.AIDS), August 31, 2001.

You are one sick puppy. Bet you spend a lot of time judging others when you should really be looking pretty hard in the mirror.

-- Jack Booted Thug (governmentconspiracy@NWO.com), August 31, 2001.

Glad you are back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-- Chris (sunny@ireland .ia), August 31, 2001.

Hey thanks all for the kind regards. I hereby endeavor to not let certain things upset me. Life is rough, I shall play hard. Hey AB, it was GREAT talking w/ya luv ya.

Rich, hope all is well.

-- Sumer (I@aint.saying), September 01, 2001.

Anita, my mom used those same words. Here's how they were said to me:

Mom: "Why does everything I say to you go in one ear and out the other?"

Then of course my dad would call me over, look in my ear and say:

"Yep, I can see right out the other side"

-- Debra (Thisis@it.com), September 01, 2001.

Is there anyone left who does NOT know sumer is abbylane?

-- (buy@clue.shop), September 01, 2001.

I guess I'm the last to know. Story of my life.

-- Jack Booted Thug (governmentconspiracy@NWO.com), September 01, 2001.

JBT, looks like you aren't the last to know, I didn't know either.....

-- Cherri (jessam6@home.com), September 02, 2001.

ROFLMAO!! If sumer is Abbey Lane, then I'm Eleanaor Rosevelt! Where do you people get these goofy ideas?

Say Eleanor, I visited your retreat at Hyde Park, NY some years ago. A beautiful piece a land. Close enough to the main residence and FDR, yet isolated enough for contemplation.

Where does the buffet line form?

-- Rich (living_in_interesting_times@hotmail.com), September 02, 2001.

Sumer:

Good to see you back. Hope all is well.

-- FutureShock (gray@matter.think), September 02, 2001.

Yes Rich, a lovely spot indeed. It was FDR's oasis away from the pressures of battling the Great Depression and World War II. He loved to sit on the deck and look out over the Hudson. Glad you enjoyed Val-Kill. It did bring quiet time so necessary for reflection. Say, why don't you stay for dinner? The Indian ambassador is visiting tonight, and we have an Indian feast almost ready. This evening's repast will be: Vegetable Samosa, Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Korma, Chicken Vindaloo, Allo Sang Biriyani, Karaki Shrimp, Gholar Da, Saffron Basmati Rice, Chana Masala, as well as garlic and plain naan and Roti. Of course there will be the traditional accompaniments of Riata, and various chutneys. Quench your thirst with a choice of mango juice, mango lassi or Nimbupani. Help yourself to the buffet!

Nice to see you back FS!

-- Eleanor (Aunt__Bee@hotmail.com), September 02, 2001.

Hey Bee. Hope all is well. Long time no talk, eh?

-- FutureShock (gray@matter.think), September 02, 2001.

Could it be that there's now a resurgence of the OLD gang? [Be still my heart.]

-- Anita (Anita_S3@hotmail.com), September 02, 2001.

Eleanor,

Please make sure the bar is fully stocked.

Thanks ; )

-- Churchill (capnfun1@excite.com), September 02, 2001.

My dear Winston, surely you, of all people, are aware that Hindu's do not imbibe! I mean have you ever heard of a good Indian libation of any sort? NO! I am surprised they even make a beer! Actually in the whole country, there are only 2 (I think) kinds of beer made there. Really Winston!

-- Eleanor (Aunt__Bee@hotmail.com), September 03, 2001.
