Took this in Washington State last summer (2000) in the Olympia National Park. Any suggestions/comments?

The background is too washed out. And you should omit the date. The composition is good but might needs some cropping on the top. The use of polariser will help to minimize the reflection on the water which seems too bright. If you want to "date" your picture, my suggestion is too print the date on the first frame of the roll. Then turn off the "date printing" feature in your camera. With this method you still can keep track the date of your picture. Or if you use that same roll of film at different day, just print the first frame you shoot that day. Happy shooting.

This is almost too blurry for me to make out. If you have a sharper scan available online, please post a link, I'd like to see a better JPEG so I can critique the photo and not the scan.

I can say that I would definitely lose the date imprint from now on.
