Being the nhs, it's possible it is just forwarding on mail as an open mail relay (MacBeth will know the techno jargon).

You might want to ask RTG/FTMX to remove the references to e-mail addresses in articles where they have quoted from this board. It's possible the spammer got your addresses from there.

The girl it's come from is a mackem, i just spoke to her....still not certain how she's got our e-mail addresses into it....this virus can pick up mail addresses from internet cache files, just wondering if our mail addresses would be in her cache if she'd read that posting on RTG? that sound possible?

They would be, but as text in an html document. Most viruses that automatically forward themselves do so by accessing your Outlook address book, but it's not out of the question I suppose...

It does say on the McAfee site that it can come from Internet Cache files, if it is possible for them to read the text stored there then that's the only innocent scenario that I can conjure up....
