Toilet Replacement

Toilets get replaced all the time and for various reasons. They can last decades, but eventually you will need a replacement. Whether you are redecorating, remodeling, or getting rid of an old water-guzzling fixture, this task is not complex and can be handled by most handy homeowners.

Before starting the job, get down and measure from the wall (not the baseboard) behind the toilet to the center of one of the bolts holding the toilet to the floor. Chances are this measurement will be 12 inches. This is the rough-in measurement and not all toilets are the same. Knowing this dimension can save you a lot of grief once the old toilet is out.
