Hi:

We have a new toy poodle (about 5 mos old now) WHITE! He has alot of tear staining. We use the clear eye stain cleaner but it doesn't clean it up very well. Any suggestions?

Thanks - Stratford, Connecticut email: iaquilino@yahoo.com

I too had a lot of problems with my white toy....until I had a talk with the lady I used to use for grooming. She does shows with a lot of dogs...and advised me to use Desitin (apply with a Q-tip) then rub down with finger. The cod liver oil prevents the tearing to appear on the face and the iron content in the tearing doesn't have the chance to irritate your doggie's skin. The iron can cause scabbing on the face if you don't do this little trick...and cause itching on the face of the dog. The applied Destitin prevents this.

Hope this helps! Make sure that you follow the "tear line" on the face of the dog and don't get it in his/her eyes!

Hi, I'll try that too.

I found this great link I'd like to share: GO TO:

(Look at the "Tip of the month" on the right), very informative about dog tearing, if you see this after it expires, look for "tear stains". They highly recommend using Organic Apple Cider vinegar in the dogs water or in tablet form. It worked for us! No surgery or drugs! Even if you have no problems, they say it does wonders for you and your dog! It regulates their system and the problem, that may be a Ptirsporum red yeast bacteria.

I have a white Havanese and she looks great now!
