Sky are reporting that Scouse and Harrods United are in a head-to-head to sign Guardiola, with Bayern Munich also interested in signing the ex-Barca player.

It has to be asked - if BM's boss, Houlier and Tigana are all interested, shouldn't YBR be knocking on that door? We clearly need quality in MF - yes, I've heard the arguments about the wages, having to play to his style etc, but if ever there was a success story in rescuing a MF has-been, Liverpool proved it previously with Gary McAlister. Please don't let them do it again with Pepe.

I'd grab him Screach. He's on a FT, and he's a very good player in a position where we are pitifully weak. Given his wages he would be a bit of a risk, but he might also just make a real difference.

Harrods are really splashing the cash - good manager and lerdsa dough is a very powerful combination. B@st@rds!

The BBC site quotes Tigana as saying he has no interest in Guardiola!

Other tit-bits, if you'll pardon the expression:

* Dirty Don is close to singing for WHU for £5.5mm - increasing his take from £18k to £28k per week - subject to a medical.
* Another former mackem rebel, Allan Johnson, is in talks with the Smoggies.
* Ivan Campo (Barca) has ruled out a move to Manure to solve their cleverly- created CB problem, and Laurent Blanc's Club, Inter Milan, are trying to block an approach for him. This could still be Marcelino's big chance!

Wouldn't be just typical if Marcie went to Man U and made a big success of it.

I'd quite forgotten about Guardiola. Must be a bit red faced about not having a club yet given his rather pompous put-down of our earlier interest. I'd still take him, but he'd need to be humble.

There must be some reason Bob hasn't had a pop at pep. TOP midfielder going free. I think there must be more than meets the eye here. If he wants to play Champs League next year then he has to be signed up by Friday. My guess if he isn't in a champs league team by friday HE himself thinks he's lost it. A seemingly popular opinion amongst 'football people' like Brian Glanville or the barça press...
