We're back. Halle-bloody-lujah!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Well, we're back on line, after a 24 hrs outage. It would be nice if we knew why, but there you go - perhaps we'll find out eventually via Macbeth.

Coming as it did on the very same day that a couple of regulars threatened to desert this bbs, this downtime was perfectly timed - at least for me.

There is absolutely no way a few tossers are going to bring down this place - no friggin way Jose!

Response to We'reback. Halle-bloody-lujah

What a relief. We should have some kind of back-up, like an alternative "emergency" BBS in yahoo or whatever, where we can leave messages to get updated on what's going wrong, in case it happens again. By the way Clarky we were at the Belgian coast for the weekend and came back through Ypres and stayed to watch the Last Post at the Menin Gate. Very impressive to see so many people (about 100) there including British, Canadians and Australians. And it's beautifully maintained. I was thinking of your articles that you posted last year and wishing I had them with us. Soon we'll go for a longer day out and have a better look.

Barry,

Glad you enjoyed your visit to Ypres - I found the ceremony, coming as it did at the end of our visit, almost too emotionally- charged. It was really crowded the night we were there which rather surprised me.

BTW, I am lead to understand that I was standing right next to you and your family at the Troyes away game - at least until the gestapo allowed you up into the 'prawn sarnie' area(!).
I was the dripping-wet one with the B&W hair, and wearing the grandad-style Toon shirt - very appropriate actually!
I recall thinking "what a lovely family", and feeling sorry for you and your wife trying to get the bairns a glimpse of the action - but also thinking "god, I hope they don't ask me to hold up one of the bairns for the entire game".

It's a real pity we couldn't have got together after the game for a drink and a natter. However, the way it turned out we couldn't find our way through the monsoon back into the main town square to meet up again with KiwiToon.

Next season perhaps!

Clarky - we must have seen you in Troyes then, because we saw a group including someone with "Jonno 50" on his shirt and when we asked Jonno at the half time drinks stand if he was "Jonno out of Greenspun BBS", of course he was. Pity the rain disrupted things at the end of the game. Hope to see you again maybe next season in the Uefa, or more likely the Intertoto again. I actually enjoyed the Intertoto very much, and far prefered it to a normal pre-season. We now have a bit of a soft spot for the Troyes area - there are some beautiful lakes and nature reserve out to the east, where we stayed, and we're going to go back some time.

Barry - I sent you an email with an attachment yesterday. I've just read all this stuff about the virus being emailed to some folk. Can I just say the attachment on my email is legit - honest - just in case you were bothered about it as you don't know me from Adam (or Eve for that matter!)
