Code Red the Dracula of worms?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Poole's Roost II : One Thread

A new permutation of the Code Red II worm was discovered Friday, and experts say Code Red is now unlikely to disappear. The new variant has been dubbed CodeRed.d and exploits the same flaw in Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS) software as the initial Code Red. According to Roger Thompson, technical director of malicious code research at antivirus firm TruSecure, who detected the variant, the appearance of a new worm indicates that we are stuck with the Code Red problem "forever."

Hawk = TK?

Anyway, what's there to debunk? Are you worried that this will bring about TEOTWAWKI?

-- Anonymous, August 29, 2001

Oh, yeah, that's me: "Hawk". Actually, I -- and I alone -- have actually been using the handle of every "doomer" that you have ever known! Which means that your entire "de-bunking" effort has really been trying to convince one and only one person that world isn't coming to an end.

Buddy, can you say, "I need to adopt better time management in my life"?

-- Anonymous, August 29, 2001

TK, how would you know Hawk was a doomer if you didn't care about Y2K?

Not the real Hawk: Note the number of words with more than four letters. Also no profanity. Imposter poster. *<)))

Sometimes yes and sometimes no.

That is Hawk. Don't talk to him or we'll never lose him. He's only being nice because the big baby is peeing his pants because he's afraid of code red. He wants someone to reassure him he's going to be ok , but he's going to be afraid of his shadow his whole life so don't bother trying to splain nothing to him.

(Time @nd time.again):

Could be true, but Hawk is like Al and Kofe. You know; you have this painting of an ugly relative from a long time ago hanging on the wall. You have adapted to it. It is now part of your world. If it left there would be a hole in your life.

This is the same.

YOU might keep pictures of ugly people on your walls, but most of us don't. ;-)

I say it's time to take it down, burn it, then fumigate your home.

-- Anonymous, August 29, 2001

Could do that except they were folks who signed the Declaration of Independence. They are willed to the family museum in Cambridge, Mass. College there is hoping to get them.

They would be pissed if we burned them. * *<)))

*I* understood your point, Z. It was like when I had the amniocentesis. They stuck a needle [maybe 13" long] through my belly- button. It didn't hurt at all, and I simply watched the ultra-sound screen. When it was over, they removed the needle and I thought, "Gee...feel kindof NAKED without that." It was like when "toejam" Ray chased me all over TB2k asking if I was being renumerated to post there. One day the old guy stopped doing that and I found myself worrying about his health. It was like when I broke the bone in my foot and after putting my weight on the other foot for so long, I didn't even realize that my bone had healed and I could balance my weight. It would be like Charlie someday asking, "Whatever happened to Anita?" Someone might say, "She ate shit and died, didn't you hear?"

Another of the endless list of personal posts about "Life of Anita" as it relates to World Situations and your life.

Frankly, the ads for "Ms. Cleo", Jamaican Tarot Specialist, have more relevancy than the usual "globalizations" from generalizations from the "Life Of Anita".

LOOP; NOT; END.

Though on retrospect, her post does indicate the source of her being FULL OF SHIT.

Sticking a 13" needle in your belly button---isn't that what is done in alien abductions?

-- Anonymous, August 30, 2001

TK, how would you know Hawk was a doomer...

Because what Hawk has posted is exactly what a "doomer" would post, therefore I can only conclude that s/he is a "doomer". Instead of simply accepting that computer viruses/bugs occur everyday, and that we have capable experts on top of it, this person obsesses about being "stuck with the Code Red problem 'forever'". Now, is that doomer talk, or what?...

Or, to put it another way: It's the same as when I see profane, incoherent babbling about memes and the New World Order, especially if there is lots of bad spelling -- I would conclude that such a person is a "debunker".

Comprende? Makes sense, yes?

...if you didn't care about Y2K?

I don't see what the point is, here. Explain further. Preferably coherently, without profanity, and without using the M word. (If you can do that much, we will let you slide on the spelling.)

-- Anonymous, August 30, 2001

Lars: You must know more about alien abductions than I.

I AM tickled by Charlie's response,though.

-- Anonymous, August 30, 2001

TK, it is obvious that you were around the Y2K boards in 1999 or thereabouts. You know too much.

Now fuck off.

-- Anonymous, August 30, 2001

Buddy: If Charlie [and maybe you as well] didn't have TK, you'd have no audience on Y2k. It's like Christianity. You can't have Jesus without the devil. Now you and I may agree that no audience is preferable, but it sure seems to get Charlie's motor running. He can cut and paste those things from his archives, and he ENJOYS doing that. I'd even go so far as to say that he wouldn't know what to do with his life if he COULDN'T do that.

-- Anonymous, August 30, 2001

Hmmmm, let's see now...

TK, it is obvious that you were around the Y2K boards in 1999 or thereabouts. You know too much.

Bad logic... Paranoia... Kind of nutsy, to say the least...

Now fuck off.

And, of course, the required profanity!

Yep, close enough for gov't work. I'd say this one is a "de- bunker".

Can I call 'em, or what?

-- Anonymous, August 30, 2001

Anita,

The only reason I've been discussing Y2K at all lately is because of this joker TK.

TK,

I don't recall using profanity with you previously, but since you had already I accused me of it I obliged.

TK,

OK... Hmmmm... So, then, if I were to accuse you of licking toilets, I suppose you would feel obliged to do just that?...

(Honestly, folks, these de-bunkers are a special breed.)

-- Anonymous, August 30, 2001

Hahaha.

Now, care to talk about anything of substance TK, or are you going to continue to debunk the debunkers?

-- Anonymous, August 30, 2001

Sticking a 13" needle in your belly button---isn't that what is done in alien abductions?

No, aliens feed you data that is illogical and expect you to believe it instead of what you see and remove embreyos (which they had implanted) for stem cell research.

Trust me, they really do use those humongous needles to get a little genetic material out of our bellies.

Word has it I will have to be giving myself shots in the belly if I get surgery.

What else am I going to be asked to do???? Rip out my own fingernails?

Umm, what were you guys argueing about again?

Hey Hawk, any more planes falling out of the sky from Y2K faults? *grin*

-- Anonymous, August 30, 2001

By the way idiot, it's debunker not de-bunker.

-- Anonymous, August 30, 2001

By the way idiot, it's debunker not de-bunker.

Which just goes to show you that I haven't been around the Y2K board all that long.

(Poor Buddy. He "just can't win for losing", as they say. I don't know how long he has been a patsy for cpr, but I suspect that he has been someone's patsy for all his life.)

-- Anonymous, August 31, 2001

Does it make you feel better TK? Is your superiority complex getting the better of you?

-- Anonymous, August 31, 2001

heh...."it" is anything but "superior".

(:
