My father in an homage to William S. Burroughs. Title is a reference to Naked Lunch.

He has such a solid stare in this picture...I mean I can't see his eyes, but I know the eyes are just piercing thru everything. You say "your father in an homage to WSB"......meaning, the "zone" is his idea? whatever......nicely composed picture

........can't get over that stare....intense

for some reason, I can't exactly figure spirer senior to have a piercing stare. Behind those glasses I imagine laughing eyes :)

Very stern, disciplined looking man. Sort of has the look of a mafia don or King Pin [g]........ nice picture, Jeff!

MIB forty years later? Ok, so I don´t post to this forum anymore, but I come back once in a while to check what´s going on. Besides, it´s the only place where one can see Spirer photos... This is definately a strong portrait where all the elements come together. I´m glad I looked.

Christel, actually the best place to view Spirer photography is his web site!

I'm going to be a party pooper. It's a great portrait, but I just don't think it gains from the 'Zone' stencil. As a record of him sitting on that exact bench, fair enough, but the formality of the framing and his pose make me feel there should be something extra to get from the juxtaposition, and I'm baffled.

There again, I've never read Burroughs.
