Yeh Barbie, your lads did exceptionally well to cling on by their finger-nails for a point against a superior team. You can afford to feel very pleased.

BTW I'm afraid your fans were no better than average - made nowhere near as much noise as Manure, or even Ipswich did last season.

A more worrying aspect of today's game for you - your team did not look to me as though it progressed from last season, and you may well struggle to do as well as you did then.

WHAT ALSO HAPPENS IF Kevin Phillips gets fucked??????????

I thought our fans were superb, totally outsinging you for a LONG time despite being stuck in the heavens of the lop sided carbuncle (Halls words, not mine)

A Superiour team? You know, you wonder why we hate you, your so far up your own arses its unreal, yet another loads of Jordy goons will have egg on there face after predicting 15-0 scorelines.

Superior? I dont think so pall, you had a load of possesion but our back 4 coped VERY well, we broke fairly well and still had a few chances, typical "away team" performace, that will do

Once Arca is back in & Laslandes ajusts Thome is fully fit & Tommy has settled himself we will once AGAIN be a better team than you in all departments Better workrate Better individual players (Fridays discussion proved it)

FTM 2-1

... ever considered contact lenses, Barbie?
I'm told the rose-tinted ones are particularly effective from Level 7.

I preffer them SAFC - FTM ones you can get from ALoveSupreme that some guy had on who was getting interviewed before the match today.

Superior, so obvious your winding me up, you gotta admit we ARE the better team of the two.

:P

LOL @ Smith!!!!!!!!

Your admitting you couldnt even beat a team who are going to be 'relegated'?

(Shot yourself in the foot with that one didnt ya scummer?)

But Sunderland couldn't beat a side they have for two seasons in a row now. Just as you were missing Laslandes and Arca, we were missing Dyer and Cort.

I thought Quinn was again amazing at what he does. He won everything he wanted to win and was at the centre of everything Sunderland tried to do. This was very worrying for us, but should be also be very worrying for Sunlun fans. We all know the guy has severe back problems and is coming up for 35 years old. He won't be able to go on much longer.

Again the Sunderland midfield battled as it can and it has to be admired for that. I haven't seen more than two minutes of Laslandes but unless he's a carbon copy of Quinn, then the Sunderland midfield ar egoing to have to adapt to a very different game to survive without the 'hoof it at Quinn' outlet.

Two goals in 270 minutes of Prem football. Both by the Munchkin, one a penalty. I wouldn't get too excited Barbie!

Clarky, very nice of the Mackems to take in your ‘away fans were disappointing’ line It would have been embarrassing if it were true, the fact of the matter is, in the last 5 derby games we have outsung you TOTALLY

Hence yesterday, various airings from the superior Mackems of;

“Shall we sing, Shall we sing, SHALL WE SING A SONG FOR YOU”?

(Listen to it on Sky, you can hear it as plain as can be)

Your attempt at booing us when we were in possession was pathetic too, you managed it for all of about 30 seconds, you should be good at Booooooooooooing you lot, what with your “loyalist supporters tha wohRld has eva seen” being particularly fond of Duck Barton & Co.

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

Have to say that i thought the atmosphere was quite poor yesterday apart from when shearer first come out to warm up.Still magnificant chips though!

You fat bastard ??

Less of the bastard pal!!!!!!!!!!! The Bay horse is beckoning......

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

By all accounts on here, the machine that goes, hahaha (somewhat similar to Softies MTGP) it was scientifically proven late last week that Sunderland starting 11 was far better than Newcastles, some reports had it 5 - 3.

Now, then going out and drawing in a game that was not won by Newcastle, as opposed to lost by Sunderland, do our visitors not think that is a disappointment?

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

hello makems

the toon are a very very average PL team this year, yet they completely outplayed your team yesterday.

wrap up warmly, its going to be a long winter

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

Saw the game live, just watched it on video. Nowt to fear from that lot. Very very limited, even with a full team out.

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

Nowt to offer, going down etc?

AND YOU STILL COULDNT BEAT US!

HOW SHITE DOES it make AC Newcastlona if you cant beat a team thats as supposedly crap as the mickeihackums?

For the record Barbie, I have never said your team was cr@p or that their fans were poor.

I did say that I didn't feel the team had progressed from last season - in truth I didn't think they were anything like as effective yesterday as in what was a fortunate win at SJP last season when they were outplayed for 45 minutes - as compared to about 60 minutes yesterday.

I also said I thought your fans were a little disappointing. They may have sounded 'awesome' from where you were sitting in Level 7, but it sounded far from awesome from my seat in the East Stand - and as I said in my original post, from the same seat both Manure and Ipswich fans last season made far more noise than your lot. Facts pal.

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

We are as big as AC Milan & Barcalona

Facts pal

(According to me)

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

I agree with you Clarky. I sit just below the away fans, and very often, for short spells, the noise is quite loud. The Mackems had a couple of spells like that yesterday, but there was none of the constant noise that came from the Tractor Boys or the ManUre Foreigh Legion. But neither of those is as good as we were at Everton, Liverpool, Spurs or Arsenal last year (the only away games I got to so can't comment on any others).

Of course, sitting in the away section at any game always gives you a somewhat biased opinion as you are in the middle of the noise. But my seat at SJP is pretty close, and comparatively, yesterday was not as good (nor inventive) as ManUre or Ipswich.

Equally, because of the ground design? at SJP, a lot of the noise from the Gallowgate simply doesn't reach the NW corner. I've noticed that from the times I've sat in the Gallowgate that the noise is a lot different than it appears up at my end. I'd be interested to know what it sounds like at pitch level (which is where it really matters).

having been at the game and watched again on video today my thoughts were confirmed re your embarrasing noise levels of support.... 52,000 versus 3,000 (ish) no contest.... too many kids and "new" fans in your carbuncle who don't know how to support and many many arrests in your section next to arrest from prats who could dish it out but didnt know how to take it.... cant speak for other visiting teams who have impressed you better than us with their support (but lets face it they would wouldnt they!!!)... but we out sand you all game which the Sky commentary proves....

Also we were piss poor and played well under par.... whilst you have peaked, shot your lot and its all the way down from here on in for the mighty DOON Jordy army....

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

You've clearly changed your tune from last night then, Roly - or have you simply been listening to the truth from your own Manager, who unlike the red & white "contributors" on here has the good grace to accept his team were fortunate to get a point.

On your other points, frankly no one's interested in reading your childish bile about our stadium or our fans - so if that's all you have to offer then go spout it on RTG where you have a totally receptive audience.

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

It is a fact of life that away fans will always sing more than home fans. Away fans are generally the most committed and often the noisiest of that teams fans. Those fans will not all be sitting together at home, though, and so the effect will be different.

As an example, I saw a game at Roker Park about 10 years ago where Port Vale went two up against the Makems in a first/old second division match. The silence was deafening from all but the 300 or so Port Vale fans. It happens everywhere.

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

were you one of those loyal "doon army" supporters ejected then Clarky....

This place really is inbred and far too cliquey... think I said something like we played well under par..... and there is nothing in this posting to contradict what was posted late last night.... a greater bias perhaps because I've now watched the video and have found to my pleasant surprise that if you couldnt have taken us apart yesterday then you "never" will.....

is that you posting "anonymously" on RTG Clarky as one of the mag "inbreds" that have appeared over there in the last 24 hours or is that another so called BBS reg???

suspect both actually....

Clarky.... get a life - get a soul - get some humour and see it for what it is..... you love your team.... your team couldnt win and from where I was sat your supporters wanted nothing but violence.... the faces of hatred on men, women and children from your supporters in that upper milburn stand was amazing and worrying and pitiful....

your club and you deserve it judging from your vitriiolic posting...

ciao and good luck....

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

Oh and Clarky.... the word "Carbuncle" was a word used by Sir John Hall in describing his/your very own ground after it was redeveloped....

in fact the exact phrase was "lop sided carbuncle".... you can imagine our delight after... dogs, mary poppins, ripping off the stupid fans, etc, etc,... from his own son and chairman.... we simply use what your own supporters and owners use!!!!!

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

Roly, if you think this bbs is too cliquey and you don't like it then you have a simple solution. And here was me thinking you were one of the sensible ones!!

-- Anonymous, August 27, 2001

Roly,

From someone who has built respect on here with intelligent and/or humorous banter, your posts over the weekend were more in keeping with Conan etc. and were hugely disappointing. Accordingly, I perhaps over-reacted somewhat - if so, then I apologise, but I expected much more from you in the post-match debate.

BTW, for the avoidance of doubt, and in the words of my good friend Dougal - I'd rather eat my own sh*t than log onto RTG - ever!

-- Anonymous, August 28, 2001

Hear hear Clarky. I've lurked occasionally mainly to see if evolution has started to kick in yet. Nee such luck, so I'll just wait until it's dragged itself onto dry land from the primordial slime it's in now, rather than go back into the slime to check.

RE: The noise levels.

Noise levels are different around the ground. The Sky microphones are all at pitch level, but the fans higher up will create more echo hence sound louder to the microphones. Generally, the loud singing areas were the away section, the SJH stand level 7 section next to it and the Gallowgate End.

As for the Mackems being louder, from sitting only 50 seats away from most of them, they were very quiet, making far, far, far less noise than last year's derby game. Five minutes of singing after their first goal then silence isn't really what I would call outsinging. Sky doesn't show anything for the atmosphere due to the microphones as I said earlier.

However, the Mackems must be commended for none of the coin throwing onto the lower tier of the west corner of the SJH stand like last year. Why the club have away fans up there is beyond me.

As for booing, I seem to recall Daniele Dichio and Darren Williams both being booed on a number of occasions at Sunderland home games by the home fans.

I have many friends who are Mackems (not all football fans) and there are also a canny few who I can't stand. Unfortunately, it seems that many of them on this board have degenerated into the latter.
