Small Town Agricultural Shows.

This month there are many small rural events happening in Ireland.Tomorrow we have the annual "pattern" in our small town with the proceeds going to help the local Abbey. Events include the welly boot throwing, guess the weight of the cake, children's athletics, the tug of war, tossing the horseshoe, throwing the sheaf of straw and horse racing. The first prize of the raffle is a load of peat for the fire!

The weather looks fine & the Abby needs the money to help with all the African & Romanian asylum seekers that have been sent to our very small town.

Do you still have these type of events in the US ?

Sounds very similar to what Indiana calls County Fairs although I haven't the foggiest notion of what a welly boot is or why you throw it.

Come now Lars:

Both the wife and I have our Welly's. Aren't proud of it, but there it is. Work well.

Best Wishes,,,,

Well, do you throw your wellys? Why? Are they heavier than the cake?

Lars:

The glory of pup-hood. The pup ate one of mine [at least we can't find the left overs]. Will need to order new ones.

Best Wishes,,,,
