Why does the word Brentford send a shiver down me spine???

2 home wins and an away draw in Div 2 this season. Managed by Steve Coppell, one of their wins was to knock Norwich out in the previous round of the cup. They play Chesterfield away today. We have been drawn at home in this single-legged encounter which will take place the week commencing 10 September.

Rob Lee to score from the half-way line....

...only for it to be disallowed...

Talking of scoring from the half way line - the Bretford captain Paul Evans did it twice in successive matches! He isn't brilliant by any means but will need to be watched at set pieces around the box - got a hell of a shot on him.

Having seen Brentford 3 times in the last 5 months, I would reckon their best player is midfielder Gavin Mahon could definitely play at a higher level than Division Two. Their Icelandice keeper Gotsskhalssen(?) is quite decent as well. One of their centre backs is Darren Powell who I think is brother of the Derby player Daryl Powell - he's big and good in the air but can be turned easily - in fact they aren't very good at the back against pace.

Up front they've got Lloyd Owusu who's got a decent scoring record for them but I've never seen him do much.

The club itself is in a bit of trouble at the moment. There are problems with the Griffin Park ground and they want to build summat else. Chairman and well known wide boy Ron Noades wanted Brentford to share with Woking, which is miles away. The fans objected violently because there was no guarantee they would ever come back again! Anyway, the League have said they can't do it.
