Using my t-mount 8mm fisheye on EOS- full circle?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I have a T-mount 8mm fish-eye lens of Russian manufacture, which I currently use on my FD equipment- mainly on a T-90 body.

I'm considering getting another mount for it, which I gather isn't too difficult, so that I can use it on an EOS body.

One thing that I wonder about is that, as it stands, I never get ALL the circular image on my negatives- a little is lost at 'top' and 'bottom'. Will this equally be a fact when mounted on an EOS, or is is more or less likely to be the case?

P.S. I know, of course, that autofocus won't work- just as the aperture linkages don't work with this lens. It is worth it, as a great deal of fun for very low price!

Cheers JIM

Jim,

The the various T-mounts should all be designed to maintain the same focal distance from the film plane, regardless of the 35mm body the adapter is for. This being the case, you should get identical image size & shape on your negative. This of course assumes that the manufacturer actually pays attention to such small details as consistancy. The build quality of the lens may give some indication? It sounds like a fun lens - and at that focal length, who needs AF?!

Have fun :-)

Hi. I had the same lens with EOS adapter. My pics were also flat on top and bottom. The lens' website showed ROUND pics. That's why I bought it. Emails to the site asking what camera I had to use to get round pics went unanswered. I sold the lens.
