Geordie - I was going to make the monkey joke but I though I'd leave that pleasure to someone else...... A simian theme to my weekend I think.

Wandering around dreading Sunday. It's just occurred to me that there will be Makems on the public transport to and from Newcastle from my part of the world. This fills me with abject terror.

All schoolwork punctuated by the WUSA final on Saturday afternoon, and some PPV or other on Sunday morning. Planet of the Apes Go to Toon or something I think it's called??

LOL ciara.

Lynda
If it's not too late, could I suggest you don't waste your brass on POTA. I was dragged kicking & screaming to see it last night, and now I know why I had such forboding - it was utter cr@p.

-- Anonymous, August 24, 2001

Dunno - anybody got any bright ideas? I did the shopping today so that's off the agenda.

-- Anonymous, August 24, 2001

POTA? Why is it so bad then? Not going until Saturday so I may think about what you said.

-- Anonymous, August 24, 2001

Lynda,

The special effects are canny - if that's what you're into - but the plot is non-existent and ditto the acting. The apes have American accents, and I just found the whole thing incredibly corny.

Actually, I wish I'd kept me gob shut now - I've probably spoiled a good night out for you. Why don't you go, and we can compare notes - it might just be an age thing!

Actually Linda, I'll disagree with Clarky, POTA... it wasn't half bad. The plot, while it didn't do much was somewhat good especially at the end. Cute as it stole some of the lines from the original, but I think Tim Burton did a credible job.

Most of Burton's movies aren't going to win Oscars because they aren't really good enough. This is standard Burton... I think Tim Roth was excellent as Thade. His insanity rivalled Jack Nicholson as the Joker in Batman (another Burton film).

Don't compare it to the original...the fun of it is seeing it as a completely different entity.

Sittin in Bangkok airpot now going thru the threads and up-to-date news. Hoping and praying that there might be a chance somehow of seeing the Toon duff up Sunderland when Im in Ashgabat doubt it somehow.

The Cole debate... Wont come to anything IMO just paper and agents talk. But the other fellow Dustin or whatever looks promising. Some goon was talkikng on TV tonight about Gary Speed being used as a striker that been done before??

Liverpool wre beating BM 1-0 when I left the hotel (Nan Bud by the way!1) and looking good. Amazing what a bit of confidence can do for a team>

Hate to say this but think Veron is rather good, but arent they the ugliest team since Liverpool in its Rush and Thompson heydays??

Think we will win 3-0 Shearer getting one Robert the other and possibly Lua2

CU soon
