Opening Files In Microsoft Internet Explorer - Suppose you're working in Microsoft Internet Explorer and you'd like to take a look at a Notepad file. You don't have to run Notepad and then find the file. All you have to do is choose File|Open. When the Open dialog box appears, type in the path and name of the file you want to open. If you don't know exactly where the file is located, click Browse. When the dialog opens, click the arrow at the right side of the "Files of type" list box and choose (for this example) Text Files. Now locate your file and double-click its icon. Back in Open, click OK to open the file.
While you're in the "Files of type" list box, you'll see that you can open any number of file types including JPG, GIF, AU, etc.
