That Sad Geordie Bastard song

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Ignore it and forget it. At the height of celebrations (or any emothional high / low) most people will do or say things that they don't really mean. Andy Cole is not the same man that left Newcastle. Now you DON'T NEED Peter Beardsley 'cos the boy Cole has had a footballing degree at THE school of excellence. Ten big ones is a snip for a man that can without doubt get you back into Europe.

Surprisingly, LR, I agree with you. When Cole was at Newcastle he was rather one-dimensional - Keegan made the team revolve around him. He has become a better player since he went to Manure. It doesn't mean, however, that he isn't still a miserable git!

As regards the fee - when we got £7 million for him the British transfer record was something like £8 million - for Collywobbles??? Can't quite remember. Now it's £28 million for some fancy dan from South America with nee hair so it looks like a bargain if we only pay 9 or 10 mill.

Still not sure about it though!!!!!

Not bothered about the song at all. He's a great player. Always amused by this business of being a better all round player. He can stuff that and just revert back to scoring 41 in a season as far as I'm concerned! :-)

I don't go along with this better play thing. Philips was a better player last year when he score half as many goals as the year before, Cole was a better player when he took 5 years to score as many as he did in two with us.

If a player is in to score goals and he can score 30 in the league in the season then that is fine for me. I'd guess Kevin Gallcher is a better alround player than Marcus Stewart so who would Ipswich prefer ?

If you happen to good and score bucket loads of goals then you are called Robbie Fowler or JFH, can't think of many others.

Disagree Mac. You do have to look at his all round performance now because he will NOT score 30+ league goals anymore like he did with PB driving the machine. Have to accept Jonnos train of thought too mind...feck all round performance in place of all out goals.

You make me laugh LR. "THE school of excellence" - I doubt Boro will be seeing it that way come May.

LR,

I don't think the SGB song would be a problem now - Coley made his peace with the Toon Army at Pedro's testimonial, and was very warmly received.

Despite a few reservations about the player he has become as distinct from the goal-scoring machine that left here, I feel he would be made very welcome - if it comes off that is.

I guess the reality is that he is now an entirely different player, but still a very good one.

Personally, I'd love to see him back in b&w.

Enjoyed your lads 1st half performance last night - thought Veron was the dogs dangly bits.

Must admit Clarky...the first half had me drooling and it was nice of Blackburn to give us 6000 odd briefs.
