why was my latest score of 425000 deleted? I used the latest mame 0.53, so what's the problem?

There was no email address on your account so i just edited the description of your upload, it was not deleted just you can't play it back in the state you uploaded it in, so it was zeroed. In short, just upload your recording again with the nvram file and it will be ok. Here's the message in your recording if you do a search on tankfrce (and don't search only for the first three scores.)

Marp is very concerned if recordings can easily be played back by other players. Since version 36, mame has introduced this little "feature" called the nvram directory where settings and random seeds are sometimes stored. This creates havoc for trying to replay recordings because sometimes the existing nvram file (at the time when you begin record) is required in order to get that recording to playback. When you upload an inp with out the nvram file this makes this upload useless.

To eliminate this problem you should remove the nvram directory by removing all the files in the mame\nvram directory and then remove the directory mame\nvram (becarefull because this directory will get recreated when you install a new mame, so you must delete it each time you install mame)

If you do not do this you MUST provide the nv file you used for that recording. This becomes complicated because (in your recording script) you must sometimes copy the nv file before you record. If you make a recording that changes that state while you record this could make your recording impossile to playback again, since you would be unable to recreate the state the computer was in before starting your recording.

You may get back your score by re-uploading with the nvram file if you wish or just record again with the nvram directory deleted and then anyone does not have to worry about nvram issues for your recordings. if you have any questions just email back. thanks!
