Theatrical performances

Just watched the first half of B'burn vs ManUre. In comparison to last night's farce, this was ballet. OK, so they're only 1 up, but I don't think I've seen a first half performance like that since, well actually we stuffed them 0-0 in the first half and lost 1-0.

If I was a neutral, I might have even enjoyed it.

As much as many (myself included to a small degree), the PPV match tonight was huge value. Assuming I watch all games (which I won't) it cost the huge sum of £1:50 for one of the best entertainments (without female performers) I have ever had. Hell, even if I only watch half the games (which I will) it only cost me £3:00.

EPL PPV at its best. Worth the money. I even have money to spare to go to the pub to celebrate the Makems defeat ;-))

Veron's passing was sublime, continually picking out colleagues in and around the penalty area from anything up to 20 yds with cripsy hit, accurate passes - something you rarely see these days.

Manures passing and movement were great to watch in the 1st half, continually moving forward in little triangles, with the man on the ball always having 2 or 3 options.

Mind Dizzy's goal was a real corker.

Sorry Clarky - I meant to comment on Veron. MotM IMHO. Also, was it tru that ManUre's bench was Cole/Yorke/Neville_G/Solskjaer/Stamm? FFS, that lot could have given most EPL teams a bliddy good runout 5-11. We (still) have a long way to go ;-)

And finally, before I pop doon to the Plough, I was somewhat surprised by Souness' subs. He brought Blake on for Gobbi (or whoever) and that was right. But then he took off Jansen for a defender when IMHO it would have been better to sacrifice Blake (who did FA) and leave Jansen on (who got BBFC's MotM). Then he took off Gilly (who had the best game I've seen him have since that sublime performance against Barca) for Craig Hairnet. Right - there's a beer (or three) in the pump doon the Plough. CUz.

Some news re the Mancs. Apparently their Board have been giving a lot of thought to the replacement for Taggart. They have noted how well Arsenal have done since appointing a manager, Arsene Wenger, whose name sounded like the club. Rumour has it that they are, therefore, giving serious consideration to offering the post to the former German international striker who has just completed his coaching badges, Stefan Kuntz.

(With apologies to the ladies!)

Well, that has to open the book for many, many contenders. May I start with: Dick Advocaat
Hugh Janus (and his friend)
Hugh J'Arce
Not to mention, Phil................

They'll make life very difficult for themselves. Where will they find someone called Big Headed Jammy B@st@rds? I suppose The Hunter family can offer their daughter Gloria ...

And Ted Heath's not doing anything these days. Although my choice would be Joe Loss.
