Mags amd Makems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

This is a follow on from the RTG thread which seems to have developed into a "my degree's better than yours" discussion!

The crux of this whole argument about the behaviour of the people on this board is quite simple - one man's mickey take is another man's abuse. If someone in a black and white shirt gives you a wind up in the pub, you laugh and give the same back. If someone in a red and white shirt does it you deck him! That's a very simplistic way or explaining what I mean but I hope you get my drift.

If you read through many of the postings on this subject you will see constant references along the lines of "I only did it for a laugh" whereas the people against whom the posting, be it on here or on the RTG, was directed, have taken it in a completely different way.

If Mags and Makems are to cohabit sensibly on this bbs there are one or two things we must agree to do:

Criticise people's opinions, not the individual

Retain your sense of humour

If you can't take it - don't dish it out.

Thank you

Absolutely positive I've never posted on RTG although I was sorely tempted to respond to that youth Krist a while back. Don't look at it now 'cos it seemed to get a bit silly.

Didn't think it was becoming a mine is better than yours kinda thing. Degrees are only bought pieces of paper that say you did something...big deal. If I had the choice I'd be quite happy digging holes in roads back in the toon. Jacko...humour is one thing, we all dish it out we all take it, I don't agree to character misrepresentation or deliberate sabotage of threads.

Syme - you're ignoring point 2 above!

Your assertion is indeed correct Macbeth. The twentieth century hadn't even been invented.
