NY PostLINDA TRIPP'S LAWYERS SENT A SUBPOENA TO FORMER PRESIDENT CLINTON
By WILLIAM NEUMANN
August 22, 2001 -- Linda Tripp's lawyers sent a subpoena to former President Clinton on Aug. 11 asking him to give a sworn deposition in her civil lawsuit against the federal government.
"We have recently received it and made no decision on it," said Clinton's lawyer David Kendall. "We will take such action as appears appropriate."
Tripp's lawyer Stephen Kohn said he wants to grill Clinton about what he calls a "smear campaign" against Tripp while he was president.
Tripp charges her confidential personnel file was leaked to the press while she was a Defense Department employee, that her civil rights were violated and that she was improperly fired.
