what do you make of him?

tried very hard and has great pace, seems to be clueless with the ball. A definite starter when all fit?

He strikes me a very genuine lad, with a great work ethic. He is still young and can still improve, and frankly will need to improve to keep his place in the side if/when everyone is fit.

He gets into good positions and makes good runs. However, his control is not always good enough, and his finishing so far has looked weak.

I've seen nothing yet to change my initial view that at £3mm he would have been a good buy, but isn't worth £6.5mm. Now if he were to score on Sunday.....................

Seems like YBR is a fan of the fleet-of-foot inside forward who runs all game but is often less than clinical in front of goals. However cannot see Bella get a game if we have two from cort/al/shola and two flying wingers in robert & nobby whippen in crosses. That is a big IF in getting two big strikers on the park together ......

Of course he isn't an out and out striker and the test will be when he links up with shearer. I agree he needs to work on his finishing though. Still he's very quick and aside from Dyer, represents the only player with pace in our squad.

The more I see of him the more I see a 21 year old Kevin Gallacher.

Oh and I'd hope that no one is a definite starter when they are all fit !

Yes Macbeth - to repeat Lynda's query - I take it a 21-y-o Gallagher would be a good thing?

Do you mean Gallagher as he was when he was 21 or Gallagher as he is now?

LIAM Gallagher

Hughie ?

Dunno whether its a good thing or not to be like Kevin Gallacher. He was such a hero for us in many peoples eyes cos he ran his socks off. As with other players I sometimes touch on, I'm not sure commitment is enough in the Premiership. You have to have it, but you also need a superior skill level that Gallacher (and Bellamy so far ) didn't seem to possess.

Bellamy has played one Premiership game for us, he's only 22, ask me again in a year :0)

I'm still baffled: Division 1 is rougher, less protection from referees, some awful pitches and yet he was a scoring machine at Norwich. Give him a decent playing surface, more time on the ball and a whistle at the faintest sign of physical contact and he doesn't know what to do with himself.

what do you make of him?

Pies.

I'm joking. He looks promising - hasn't convinced or disappointed me yet.

macbeth, that was exactly my thought, about him being a young Kevin Gallacher.

The only difference is that he lasts the full 90 minutes and he is about twice as quick. If he is going to serve us as well as Gallacher it would be nice, but hopefully with a few more goals, as he wasn't exactly prolific at Coventry (although I can't imagine Coventry getting a lot of service into the box - apparently Bellamy set up 5 of Hartson's 6 goals when he joined Coventry)
