Tales of Courage....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I sat in my office today, clicking the refresh button on the matchday thread. If any of you get a chance, please read through it. Amazing stuff....makes you proud to be a member of the toon army, even from places all over the world.

Now I didn't contribute today, I had the pleasure of living vicariously through the emotions of those on the thread. Let me say Syme, LT, Ciara, Galaxy, Pete... and even the barbarian, your nuisance was comical at best....

...Guys I was proud to be in your presence. Your unending love and loyalty even at 1-4 was simply incredible.

Howay.....

... it's a crying shame they weren't all in the SJP crowd tonight in place of some of the unthinking turds who were there!!!

The game certainly had it's ups and downs, and downs, and downs, and then ups and ups and ups. Shame we totally lost the middle third of the game. Oh well, look forward to Sunday, hope YBR paid attention to the youngsters tonight, Bernard, Lua Lua etc deserve a chance, they gave us a ton of width today and some much needed urgency (from what I heard). I would love to see Griff at RB and Bernard at LB, Hughes and O'Brien in the middle at the back. Midfield (what midfield he asks)Speed Acuna and Bassedas. Shola, Bellamy and Robert to round it off. Nobby seems disinterested so a place on the bench for him. Also give Harper the starting goalie spot till Shay settles his nerves.

But, those are my thoughts, not Bobby's.

Pete, I reckon most will completely agree with your team selection there.

Some of the crowd were going along with whatever was happening, a bit like kids who are there for their first time. A few near me booed Barton, then cheered him shortly afterwards, which was a little bit hypocritical.

Booing any of your own players is simply not on in my book. Put yourself in their shoes, booing is hardly going to spur you on to attack, it's more likely to make you more nervous. Barton should have been subbed off though, it was plain to see. Alex Ferguson would have taken any player who did that straight off the field.

I do love the matchday threads. Kind of a virtual SJP/Strawbeery.

Never have understood people walking out before the final whistle. Why spend the money if you aren't going to watch to the end? If only we could fill the place up with the kind of people going to away matches.

Spot on sparxx - i miss the match day thread crew - even though i'm back in the UK now. They kept me going last season during the darkest hours and through the long summer nights in NZ. Keep the faith.
